New battery or NOT?

Guys thanks for all the responses. I very rarely ride alone and most have battery and I have jumpers so I am going to keep it as long as my Optimate rates it as good battery.

Thanks guys and I hope to have a great snow year and lots of miles and starts

Ya, I have done that on 2 strokes before, in fact, I carry a strap just for that purpose. Last year brothers 2011 Apex XTX blew the battery on the trail, and I can tell you, pulling an Apex engine over is no easy task. I got it to spin a few times, but would not start....maybe there was not enough ignition power to start? IDK. Anyway, I can promise that you will not pull over a cold engine that way.

I agree, I will not be trying to start by pull. I keep the sled at a cabin with cars and sleds for back ups and to jump from. If the Optimate says green and good to go I will stay with it.
Thanks for the replies I have been out of town with work so sorry so late.

not broke dont fix it wont be what you are saying when you are sitting at the bottom of a bowl in the mountains. If these sleds had pull start maybe.

If you are that worried use this:

for $200 i would just buy a new battery?

Surf a bit seen Start Monkey $100 to $125. You seem very worried about remote area dead battery so I gave you a solution. Often no one to get a jump from so this is the anwer to a dead battery trail or off trail. I ride a lot alone trail & off trail so I can't always get a jump if needed so I'll probably buy a start monkey stuff in my pocket & ride. For me 2 boats, tractor, Attak GT, 2 trucks & 1 car always something that needs a jump in the WI Northwoods & a lot easier to pull a start monkey from my pocket than hand carry spare battery or line a truck up for a jump. Seems like an excellent investment to prevent a dead batter no start situation for all the toys. To me if there is a better way embrace the new tech & worth every penny to get out of a bad situation with a pocket jump start kit.

o i would agree that it seems like a great thing, but i was just trying to say that i would rather have a new battery and one of those than an old battery and one. very cool gadget though.

My Optimate has been keeping my 5 year old Apex battery, my 5 year old Sea Doo battery, and my 8 year old John Deer lawn tractor battery all working great.

I rotate the Optimate around on these batteries during the on & off seasons and they all are still working fine. I have also brought "dead" batteries back to life with the Optimate that other chargers have not been able to charge.

i burnt out an optimate saving 8d batteries from a loader but it worked awsome. if an optimate will not bring it back, it is well and truly fubar. i tend to use solar panels in the off season and they work well too.

I have had NO problems with my battery or sled. I just put the Optimate 6 on over night and I have all green lights ready to go.........90 degrees. We need frost and snow oops I'm a few months ahead of my self

Yamaha sells a tester made by Optimate. It will test the static voltage, cranking voltage and charging voltage. Nice little tool to check batteries.
