2008 Nytro RTX clicks and won’t start sometimes. Usually after it sits in cold a few days.

Swapped battery and relays and still does it. Basically give me one click when I turn key and is right near oil tank.

Any ideas???

Jump across this. Starter Relay

So jump those two brass contacts? There is screws there with with wires on them right there right?

Have you replaced the starter relay? The one shown in the pic above? They like to corrode from water dripping into them from the vent hole above. I turned mine sideways (so the water wont drip straight into the plug and used the dilectric grease on it.

But when I had the Issue there was no click when I turned the key to start it, happened randomly too, however since replacing the starter relay and the other relays I haven't had the issue pop up anymore, but that's just starting it in the storage, waiting to see how it all works out when its sub 30 degrees out.

Also, sometimes if you turn the motor a little by hand and try again it might start. Sometimes the starter will develop a dead spot.

Funny u say that. My sled through a code and wouldn’t start. So I spun the primary by hand to see if I’d help. Then code went away and it started and no code since. I have replaced the starter relay on the relay bank in the nose of the sled with the red relay. The starter solenoid in front of oil tank I have never touched. That does click once when it doesn’t start and that’s all the sled does. Then I keep cycling key and usually will eventually work. When I put a heat gun to hood when is cold and won’t start it seems to eventually start so not sure the heat helps or if the primary spin helped or not. Kinda confused at this point...

Replace the starter solenoid on the oil tank.

Yep, solenoid on the tank. When it doesn't crank, it's normal that it will throw a code because it thinks there's something wrong with the crank sensor but really, it's because it's not cranking.

Those go bad or like battery terminals they need cleaning and new grease?

They just go bad. Had this happen on my MP, a Phazer and now, the RS. Contacts inside fail.

I had the exact same issue... check out the middle pages of my "front end+ post", there is a complete section on my troubleshooting of the dreaded "click", solenoid... battery... to starter replacement without removing motor (plenty of pics). Sucks but our starters tend to crap out, a good friend of mine said take a long rod and place it on the starter body (you can thread it through the frame / engine gap after removing the body plastics on the right side. Get the rod (or long screwdriver) solid on the starter body and tap it with a hammer. I did it and mine started right up... next time "click", rod, tap, start. This confirms it is your starter... PITA but at least you know. Next step it then doing the contortions shown in my thread pic, took one evening start to finish but able to do the starter without any disconnections of air box, oil tank, etc. If you are VERY lucky, the solenoid may have some corrosion or be bad (cross your fingers that it is)…

Can you send me a link please?

It is right below your post, I think this will get you there: https://ty4stroke.com/threads/2009-nytro-front-end-rebuild.149099/
Go to page 10, starter requires some commitment and preparation when you are under there, but very doable. I had a lot of guess work from reading three different website forums so created some detailed pics and instructions to help others. From my reading, one of the guys sounded very plausible "sans rope on bumper over the barn beam" alternative method when he used the tire jack to push up the motor in the chassis… really worked, saves disconnecting anything (amazingly). Fresh new starting system.
