I just bought a new XS805 belt for my 06 Apex. How can I tell if I need to shim for proper alignment. How can I tell if it's sitting in the best position? Can someone give me a link to instructions? Do I need to order shims or a kit?
Thanks in advance
Will

if your last belt was fine, this one should be too. the only possible difference might be belt height adjustment in the secondary. if you are unsure of anything buy clutch alignment tools from a site sponsor and set it up.

Can't seem to find an answer...
I just took off an 89L-17641-01. Seems that the belt is 1/4 smaller than an 8DN.
I bought an XS805. I don't see a direction indicator. Put it on so I can read the lettering?? Is that the proper direction?
It sits higher in the secondary than the old belt but it has ribs on the outside as well as the inside. The old belt is flat on the outside.

the belt should sit just above the secondary. did you try running it to see if it squeals at idle, if so you might need to add a shime to the 3 set screws on the back of the secondary, if no squeal then run it since it sounds like it is sitting higher already. to answer your first question yes place the belt on so that you can read it, that way you can replace it in the same direction every time you remove it. ;)!
