Just put a new 8JP belt on my Sidewinder after 7500kms of trouble free miles and it seems to sit too low with far too much deflection. Stock spring set at 3-3. BOP secondary belt adjuster backed all the way off.
Is there any way to get the sheaves closer together on the SW clutch?
Belt squeaks a bit at take off sometimes.

tighten up your belt adjuster to raise belt in secondary... its backed off to far

Need to remove a washer or two behind the secondary bolt

With adjuster backed off against the large washer, is there free space between helix and adjuster?

I find it best to run it SLIGHTLY under the sheaves. Each belt is slightly different but running it sitting over the sheaves IMO makes it harder for all rollers to contact helix ramps. Maybe others have seen this but when I drop it down slightly my rollers are tighter to ramps? Just a observation on mine. Maybe not the same for others.

I would say the magic spot is .5mm above the secondary

Could it not also be depended on your center to center measurement?

Google snowmobile belt deflection, measure it

I did as Dan said and ran the sled on the lift for a while with the belt adjuster backed right off and everything seated as it should. Belt is just flush with top of sheaves and all is good. I guess I didn’t run it after putting the new belt on. Thanks for all the tips guys.
