I finally blew up my original belt at about 3200 miles on my rx1mtn. put the new belt on and now it squeels when I am sitting at an idle. What do I need to do?

Could be something stuck in one of the clutches. I just blew a belt on my atv yesterday ans the secondary was full of belt string inside.

Also is the belt a yamaha one because a little change i nlenth could make a difference.

YamahaRx-Warrior, you could be right. I was going 88mph when she blew and it looked like a cotton gin blew up under the belt guard. Might be time to do some cleaning on the clutches.

Squeal

The reason it squeals at idle is because it is just a little too tight and rubbing on the primary. It is new and a little wider than the used belt which is why you did not hear it before. Adjust the 3 screws on the back of your secondary (turn in), to give you a little more belt clearance and the noise will go away.

squeeling belt

I have a 2003 rx1. I have 500 miles on it. My buddy has the same sled and mine was alot slower. we found that on my sled the clutch spacing between the two shafts was too long by aprox 1/4". we loosend all the motor mounts (two in front under air box with threaded adjustable collars and one long one in the back) and fixed the spacing. when I compaired our belts mine was shiny on the inside of the belt and my buddies was not.
I am not sure if this is your problem. make sure your primary is clean and check to make sure your belt fits right.

You don't turn bolts in and out. You remove the washers behind bolts, which will separate the sheaves, which allows to bett to ride lower, and makes it looser. That was good advice about checking the center to center length.

You don't turn bolts in and out

If you don't turn in the little bolts, you will not separate the sheaves any or change the belt deflection. Obviously you remove the thick washer and replace with the thin washer. If that is not enough, you remove all washers. So yes you do turn in or out the bolts to adjust the offset.
