Epi purple same as dalton a/c white ?? ThanksIt’s not deflection if you’re snapping belts. You need more secondary spring or wrapped tighter EPI purple spring or equivalent wrapped at 0-1 and you won’t blow belts. My first season with the sled I went thru like 10 belts in 5000 kms @270 hp. My last ultimax I changed at 6000kms when jt was starting to crack. Currently @2500kms on an ultimax

I've been pretty successful on the big tunes using XS825 belts and the Dalton V2 B/O. I'm even able to add some helix into it now with the secondary locked down and non floating. Don't use the V1 B/O springs as they are weaker than the V2.

I had major issues last season with belt blowing, stage 4 evo tune. This offseason I went and got some old clutches, I fixed my stud shaft bearing, I aligned everything with the hurricane alignment tool, sealed off any areas where snow was getting in and it is night and day better, the performance and belt life. I am running the arctic cat white spring which I believe is just a bit stiffer than the epi purple. My stub shaft was only out 0.5mm and my offset was not bad either. The biggest change that helped me was the old clutches and the white secondary spring. I was running the dalton B/O originally

Quick update…bought hurricane clutch tool…..took 2.77mm(!!!!) off clutch shaft, it’s not perfect but definitely closer to alignment. It’s not deflection if you’re snapping belts. In regards to the secondary spring….I’ve got a white one now in 3rd hole…..you’re saying take it to 5th hole? Or get a different spring? Or either should work?

What is the white spring? Dalton? If so that spring should work. If you’re snapping belts, it’s because the secondary spring is either too weak or not wrapped tight enough. Not sure what helix or secondary you have when you refer to the “5th hole”.Quick update…bought hurricane clutch tool…..took 2.77mm(!!!!) off clutch shaft, it’s not perfect but definitely closer to alignment.

If you had to machine that much off your secondary shaft I would suggest your stub shaft bearing has moved in its collar and needs to be reseated.Quick update…bought hurricane clutch tool…..took 2.77mm(!!!!) off clutch shaft, it’s not perfect but definitely closer to alignment.

first belt snapped at 60miles. Second one at 115. 3rd at 205…..new sled.If you had to machine that much off your secondary shaft I would suggest your stub shaft bearing has moved in its collar and needs to be reseated.
I can Fix #*$&@…..not 100% versed in sleds yet

The sled being that new should still be under warranty and if it is blowing belts so readily you should involve your dealer.
They can pull off the primary clutch, remove the stub shaft assembly, check if the bearing has moved, and if it has moved press it back into place then check alignment and shim the secondary to proper specs .
When a belt blows a lot of times it moves the stub shaft inward or it could have been misaligned right from new.

Hurricane bar did not work on my 2022. It made my secondary be too close to jackshaft. After a 200 mile ride outside sheave (fixed) on secondary would have belt smear all over it, like excess friction marks and moveable sheave looked like brand new, literally didnt even look like a belt had ever contacted it. I was at 57.7mm offset with hurricane bar. I shimmed back out to 59.7ish and the smear dissapeared , temps got really cool and coloration between the 2 sheaves has equaled out. I have a friend with a 22 srx thats in the 59’s for offset as well and I believe jonaflon has shimmed out to the 59’s as well. Dont know if something is slightly different on the 22’s but that has been my experience. My 2020 is great with hurricane bar at 57.8mm offset.

YUP! Seeing same thing. I will get a measurement next week. I know for sure I am 1mm out past the hurricane bar.Hurricane bar did not work on my 2022. It made my secondary be too close to jackshaft. Update here. Sled running great, belt issue possibly. Rpms and boost is bang on. 8900-9000. 17.4lbs, wheelie monster in the snow we have. About 4-5 powder.
Still was running the ultimax 5085 belt from the start of the season when I blew the last one. At that time I had done about 50kms on it or just 30 miles breaking it in. While doing some hot digging in this snow we have, I did a few passes just playing in the snow. Followed by three, 100 yard, holeshot hammers. After all of this I checked things out. Clutches were warm but I could keep my hand on them, the most concerning thing is I seen a 3” cord hanging out the side of the belt closest to me which I cut and rode it another 20km before changing to the xs825.
-Couple questions here, is that ultimax belt still ok to gently use with a 3” cord that came out? It’s got maybe 200km on it.
-xs825 I need to get the deflection in line. I broke it in per spec on about 60kms and I’m 2-3mm above the secondary. Also the inner primary sheave is hot like a stove and the secondary was also hot just from trail riding. V2 b/o at 80.
-is the inside sheaves of primary and secondary supposed to be as hot as a stove? With the 825 they are and im sure with the 5085 as well.
Worst of it all is I’ve been racing these 2-800 etec doos for years and the one doo rider is about 50lbs heavier than the other. Same setup. 146-2.25” track and the one spanks the other one by 2 lengths in about 150 yards. That one doing the spanking is also neck and neck with me at 100 yards in 4’ of snow at 270hp, I’m only a 141-1.75”track and I figure maybe it has something to do with the driver and sled weight being a difference of 200lbs.
Seems to me the 825 belt is making my clutches a lot hotter while not even pushing the sled. Not worried about being neck and neck with this do at 100yards. I figure it’s pretty decent considering rider and sled combined is about a 200lb difference and the rider outright admits he can’t keep up after that but seems pretty impressive he could hang for 100 yards for being “supposedly” stock when he’s spanking another model, same year, same everything being about 50lbs lighter. Must have been made on a Friday lol!
End of the day. I know I wouldn’t have problems with belts if I just drove the machine predicable. Holding the throttle down with maybe 5-6 seconds and not holding the throttle any longer doesn’t seem excessive but it is causing issues blowing belts about 20’ after the throttle is grabbed.
Sheaves did get darker a bit from switching from the 5085 to the xs825 though.

Belt issues possible??? hot as a stove ??? Wheelie Monster ??? 3” cord came out ??? Can’t hold the throttle down more than 5 or 6 seconds or your blowing belts ??? No disrespect but I Think you answered your own questions …

Last post not to degrade you or your set up but you got a combination of good and bad and you have room for improvement so you can hold your throttle wide open for longer pulls …Update here.
