So Im done for the year and Im thinking sc next season. After some reading and Ill admit I havent done a lot as of yet I have a few questions.

1. Since mine uses oil and I have to tear down anyway what if anything without spending crazy $$$ should I do? Will I benefit from portwork or changing pistons? I still want my reliability

2. I was curious if they whine like some do in the automotive world?

3. Also wondered about wasegates like on a tc, does a sc use them or not, and if so at how many pounds of boost will you hear them upon deceleration? Cause that is KEWL.

4. Any brand prefs and why, I live in MI so I dont need crazy top end power, I want it all down low baby.

Replace the rings and hone it to stop oil burning little cost other then labor and honing. Maybe $400 in parts?

2. Yes listen to some vids on you tube.

3. Wastegates are exhaust valves in turbochargers that let excess exhaust passed the turbine so it doesn't build boost or keeps it closed to build boost. SC do NOT have wastegates because they are not driven by the exhaust but by the crankshaft via the pulley system. The sound you speak of comes from a Blow Off Valve (BOV) which lets all the boost the SC always makes out before it gets to the intercooler.

4. MPI is the only one I know of, some companies have been playing around with thier own kit but nothing offical has been announced yet.

5. you did have a number 5 but low end boost will come from a roots or screw type supercharger, higher end rpm power will come from the rotrex unit MPI uses commonly called a centrifugal supercharger (because as it spins higher it makes more boost)

So youd not mess with headwork and pistons?
Thanks for the wastegate/bov clarification.
Ive read some good and bad about MPI (mostly last night).
So if the low end comes from a roots style is the MPI gonna have any lag?

kinger,,, I just love that avatar that looks like a work of art. just wish I could enlarge it.

Mpi doesn't have any lag it makes 1 psi at clutch engagement. It woudl RIP!

Attached is a larger view with the polished clutch guard all ready for the snow! thanks for the comments I'm fairly proud of my first custom sled doen all by myslef with no experience and rode 1800 miles this year never even looking it over between trips, just gas and go the way I want it!
