Hy Blue , I have a MCX on my mtn lite , low end is good , no issues , clutching is a big part , engagement about 5500-6000 rpm , all is good.
Have you opened up the MCX muffler , that is where all the heat is being held , too tight , and you will also see 1000 rpm more on top ,and have to reclutch ! My sled went from 11200 peak rpm to the rev limiter (12200) as soon as I did the muffler ! If in doubt , take the muffler off and go for a rip , you will not believe it is the same sled !

Apparently Alpine have pulled the plug their turbo kits after a few Phazer's grenaded. (15 psi).

So do you mean they are actually building a production kit? When I talked to them after the new year they had only made one kit for their own testing. They said it worked great!, but they would not be making any more this year because they wanted more testing and they were going to be to busy with the rest of their systems...
I guess we'll see about the 15 psi thing, I've got a MPI s/c comming and it will be running 15 psi at 5000ft. I could see if people were blowing things up on pump gas, I'll be running straight VP110. Time will tell.....
As far as turbo/sc, I think if you're going to be riding at the same elevation all the time the s/c would be the way to go. I've a MCX on my Vector but for the Phazer I just wanted a snappier fun sled, either choice you'll be happy with

I bought a different sprocket/pulley for the kit to change the ratio to a 1:1.

They are NOT going to build a kit at all anymore. Pulled the plug after grenading a few demo sleds...

When I get my MCX, I'm gonna have a staight pipe made to go from turbo to out back and
see how that sounds and works. That will then make sled like 5-10lbs lighter than stock.

It will sound like hell (they said so in Sweden), but you can modify the MCX can or put a lightweight muffler on. That is probably what I will do.

Like Super trapp from fz600 or a muffler made for phazer and have mid pipe fabbed. Maybe dirt bike muffler. yeah, I don't want a real loud raspy exhaust.

Strange, I got my info from the largest Alpine dealer in canada.

The heat problem was caused by the joint where the stock header meets the turbo inlet pipe slipping appart and leaking. That melted the seat base, foam, cover and side panel. MCX has and update for that which reqires welding the joint, wrapping the exhaust and installing a heat sheild. That should take care of that.
You are right about clutching. It is everything. It will take some time to fine the right setup for our elevation. 95% of the clutching used at lower altitudes suck up here. It will take the rest of this season and maybe into next year to find the right one that work in all conditions. Its all trial and error.
As for removing the muffler, NO WAY! The reason this kit is so appealing is the fact that it is quiet! I have worked hard to keep my bikes and sleds as reasonably quiet as i can. We dont need to give the greeies any more fuel for the fire. 4-strokes area cleaner, so now they are using noise as an issue. I will gladly give up a few ponies to keep my riding areas open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ORC

Remove the muffler to test only *You will be looking to modify or replace it , when you see the results ! The fix for the turbo sliding off is drill and cotter pin the two mounting points , don't weld the inlet pipe , you may need to remove it one day ! , and run the risk of blowing thru and hurting the turbo with debris.
Opening up the exhaust also fixes the low end problem , allowing the turbo to spool much faster !
