I just bought a 09 yamaha nytro mtx as a hold over. Snow has been shitty here but I wanted to get out and break the sled it as I had a trip planned to McCall next weekend. After about a half hour of riding I was transition from the edge of the trail back to the trail which was pretty much ice and transferred my weight at the wrong time and had a pretty fast tip over and blew out my knee. So my question is how do I get more front end stability on the trail, the thing rides like a 3 wheeler.

Lots of threads on here about the handeling on the Nytro. Some things to look for are Fox Floats, Sway Bar (delete), Skies, Runners, Darting (their is an add-on for the skis).
In a nut shell here are some things to do. Convert to Fox Float shocks, Change skies, Reverse the ski rubber foot and shim, Limiter strap adjustments, And I'm sure there is more I missed. Just remember the MTX is not a trail sled but you ca make it a better trail sled then it is from the factory. Sorry about your knee hope it isn't too serious.

adjust your front limiter strap to decrease/increase the ski pressure and they do make double carbides or replace the ski's. The fox floats are nice but i wouldnt consider them a must to fix this issue. You can adjust ur spring pressure on the OEM ones to compensate for pressure.
Sorry to hear about ur knee - that sucks and know how you feel - i popped my knee last year at the end of the season when my sled bounced back at me in a turn when i hit a water ditch and my knee didnt take it.
Get well and get back on ur horse!!!!

So shortening the limiter straps and screwing the shocks down would help?

as stoli mentioned, that is what I did to mine.
Pulled the front strap up two holes and tightened my shocks just about all the way. While it's not a RTX, I really don't have any complaints with my 09 mtx on trail.

I was thinking of doing something with my MTX as well. I thought tightening the straps would put more ski pressure and make it worse.

It took me a couple of seasons of adjusting to make my Nytro handle better. I also think after over 3,000 miles I've become more comfortable riding it mainly due to a change in my riding style. They do require more rider input compared to other sleds I've had and it takes time to get used to so be patient.
I recently sent my shocks out for revalving which should soften the ride a bit and I'm installing pilot skis. I decided to make the change mid season so I have a good feel for what effect these changes will have on the sled. I should have them installed by the weekend so now all I need is snow.
I tore up my knee last March riding my RTX and had surgery in April. Its still bothering me but I'm riding every chance I get. I guess at 46 thing don't heal as fast.

Bad knee or not it's strange.....we will all take a day off work for a sniffle but would kill ourselves for one good ride. LOL
As for the age....your still young enough to know whats important....the ride.
Guilty as charged.
