Just picked up my 2008 fx nytro (black and blue) 3700 miles and with the help of this forum I believe I picked a good clean nytro that has the common issues looked after already.
Also on a side note I greased my drive shaft bearing and jack shaft bearing today. Drive bearing was dry looking, just a reminder if you haven't done this to your nytro yet you probably should
I look forward to reading lots more on these forums and many trouble free miles ahead

A mod will chime in soon to tell you to fill in your location so you might want to do that...take some time and read through all the old posts it's good reading and you'll learn a ton about these sleds...at least check out the FAQ.
Good luck with the sled...this is my first full season on a nytro as well.

Got that updated. Have been searching and reading FAQ section now for weeks. Always research a lot before buying a particular sled, my last sled was a trail converted sno x mxz. That took a lot of reading!
I have been looking through a lot of suspension set up threads and was wondering if it's a good idea to pull limiter straps (front ones) up one hole and run very little front spring preload and front track spring pre load whereas I'm running brp pilot ski' (5.7) and not the stock ski's.

I'm not a big fan of pulling up straps before trying other options...I'd ditch the stock skis if they're still on it. Tuner, Kimpex arrow and what some feel are the ultimate Split Rail or if you're keeping the stock ski Sonw trackers. What model do you have Std? RTX?

Take your time with it and do one thing at a time so you will know what works for you and what doesn't , could take a week to set it up the way you like or could take the season
Have fun and good luck !

I have the pilot 5.7 ski's (ski-doo) I have the standard fx nytro, my last sled was a stiff ride, and the rtx from what I understand is a little rough in the smaller stutter bumps, hence the standard fx.
I'll see what the clickers are set at currently and adjust from there. Now all we need is snow! 50mm of rain tonight isn't helping!

Just curious if you guys think the drive shaft bearings would be more affected by mileage or by age? Just wondering because the nytro I bought this year was a dealer demo only having 900 miles on it but it's a 2008

You should be set for skis...Pilots are good. Ride it and see where your're at.
TheBert I shoot grease in every year weather they need it or not.

The grease job on the bearings is so simple, I don't see why you wouldn't grease it. Took me about 5 minutes.

Ya I did this today on Phazer and a Nytro. It takes 5 minutes to grease them once you have the belt, secondary, speedo, bearing hangers and seals off. Re-evaluate your time.NS FX NYTRO said:The grease job on the bearings is so simple, I don't see why you wouldn't grease it. Took me about 5 minutes.

Guess I'll probably do that tomorrow, got down to -40 without the windchill last night so my plan to go riding this week is taking a back seat since it's just too damn cold

I was referring to just the drive shaft bearing. That should take no more tha. 5 min, and whereas it's the lower bearing it's usually the one that needs grease the most. Guess I wasn't clear on that. The top bearing should take 10 min tops. And that is with my homework done and signed by my mom
Supa dexta, I'm just outside truro, towards you.
