Hi, I am looking at buying a new sled for my 62 year old father, I am looking for something that he can ride when he comes to visit, his last sled was a 900 Fusion, but I would like him to get a 4 stroke. Most of our rides are done on groomed trails and we tend to do 100-150 mile rides when we go,he does not ride aggressive but he does ride well,he is just very careful. I have a chance to pick up an 06 Apex GT for around $5k with 3500 miles on it, what do you guys think? is this a good deal? Would this be a good trail sled for him or are there better options? I have absolutely no experince with the Apex (never even riden one!) but I really like my XTX and am impressed with the fit finish and looks of the Apex. Thanks I would appreciate any help you can give.

I love my apex.Im not 62 but think it would be a great sled for him. A vector may be a little better because of the weight. If your dad is still riding 2 thumbs up.Shane

IMO I would go with the attak wich is the same as the apex except the 136" track will bridge the bumps better, but I think the apex will also work awesome, I think you'll be on more than you think! lol.
Good luck with whatever you decide to get!

I'm 64 and ride just about every day in the winter. My sled is a 08 Vector LTX and it never tires me out. The Apex would probably work out great for your dad

I would have to say Vector LTX would be the first choice here knowing what you've told us! Great sled with great MPG & very little maintence! Great sled for anyone to ride!
Attak or Apex LTX would be second.
Good Luck!

IMO Vector LTX is the one...3 cylinder is lighter and mounted lower. Keeps the c of g's down. but got to get the EFI 2009 model.
My Dad just retired his sled this year at 74 Little sad but it's now time to take my Mom to florida for the winters. 55 years of fishing and snowmobiling whenever he wants is up! haha. My ex only lasted 2 years!!!!

Thanks for the input, I am leaning towards the Apex for him, my dad has asked me to find him a sled as I am more informed then he is. I found an Apex 09 brand new left over 0 miles for $8995, I also found an 06 Apex GT with 3200 miles for $5600. what do you guys think, I know the GT has better suspension and 3200 miles does not scare me any on one of these. What do you think would be my best bet? I appreciate any info you can and have given Thanks!
I would go with the 09 , an get a 4yr warranty for free!

Yes I agree Go with the 2009 $yr warranty and the suspension has been refined every year since the delta box 2 chassis was introduced

$3395 more for the 09 and actually less features if your just buying the base 09 vs the 06 GT for a occasional ride, not sure i could justify that.
Even if the mono shock cable breaks, you need to replace the idler wheels, repair the front W arm, etc on the 06 over the next 5 years your still miles ahead with the 06

Thanks for the input. I am thinking that the 06 GT is the best option, I am going to see the sled this weekend. Any thoughts on what I should be looking for? I am new to the Apex and only know what I have read here. Thanks again.
