I decided to check my ski allignment on my new rtx. I'm sure glad i did. The front to back of ski measurement was alright , too much toe out but better than the oppisate, but the track to ski allignment was way off. I think dealers just dont have the time or manpower to set sleds up correctly for us. The mags always say to use an straight edge from track to ski, but good luck trying to find something that is truely straight. I like to use an string line to check for allignment. Standing at front of sled I tie an string line to something heavy, I use a brick, and then run the line between left ski and track. Wrap string around rear of track and over lugs close to ground. Then bring string up between track and right ski and just wrap around brick to hold tight. I then just bring both bricks and string together till string hits front part of track. You can double check square with by measuring width between strings, should be same as width of track.I use a speed square against string to hold tape against. Make sure you allign track first and bars stay straight during this process. I just checked brother in laws 07 phazer and his was way off too. I've been reading a lot about darting issues in these pages so this something everyone should check out before any modifications. Would like to hear any other ways guys are checking. Hope this way helps some people.

I really like the string Idea, I have been using apeice of angle iron from an old be frame, truly straight ??
I will try thi in the fall.
Of course critics will say with the slop in the steering why be so precise? I would answer well better is not worse
thanks

Place the laser's base against the side of the track, then measure the distance from the front and back of ski saddle to the laser beam. I run Simmons skis, so I make the distance the same for zero toe in/out.
