Well... almost, I'm currently living in south eastern Wisconsin and looking into buying a 2015 viper ltx-le(blue/orange), my question is if I'm getting a good price or if I should do some more shopping. The sled that I'm looking at is and LE, but has a heated seat and extra storage, a bigger bag in the rear behind the seat, and also a storage bag by the gauges for a cell phone/wallet or other smaller items. I was told at the dealer that normally the heated seat and extra/bigger rear storage bags do not come on the LE model. Is this true? Also the full price on the sled after tax is $12,700 what have you guys paid for yours? is this a bad price? I am also trading in two sleds and am getting a $500 rebate on the new sled, plus what ever I get in trade in value. The two sleds I am trading in are a 2000 SRX with 8k miles track should be replaced(dealer opinion), good compression and runs and drives great would put 2k miles on it with no issues. The other sled is a worn out sxr with almost 10k, beat up appearance wise and needs work, but would be a good parts sled for a dealer to pick off of... So what do you guys think? would I be better off going to another dealer or does this seem fair?
Thanks in advance, shawn

Seems like a fair price to me. I paid $12.7 and some change OTD for mine, however, my price included a 5 year Y.E.S. warranty. The early release Spring '15 LTX LE's will be the only specific models with the 137" x 1.25" Ripsaw II track (Fall release LTX LE's will have 1.75" Backcountry X track), extended brake lever, goggle bag, tunnel pack, heated seat, black steering riser block and black colored caps. Now, 2015 Vipers that are showing up at dealers DO NOT have everything I listed on them all at once. For example; the closest in comparison would be the DX models which have the heated seat and tunnel pack, but nothing additional. You can always add any one of these items to any model Viper to your liking.

Yea I know I can add virtually any of these options but it does cost some $$$ so if I can get it with the options included that would be sweet, I can add the extended warranty for $850 which seemed decent for a added 4 year warranty, I'm going to assume the fall orders won't be able to get the blue/orange color combo?
Definitely some money savings versus if you intended on adding those items to a Fall model. Blue/orange LE models were Spring Power Surge units. Not a standard color and one would probably be challenging to locate unless you find a dealer that had a customer back out of one or had one of the early Spring LTX LE's delivered and not sold as of yet.

Yea that's what I was thinking, that some one backed out of the sale or something, I haven't yet asked the dealer but should I assume it has all recalls/updates already done?

I think that's a good deal, as long as you get the 5 year warranty, y.e.s. But you also need to pay attention to what the guys are saying! The LTX LE/SE have a pretty stiff ride and depending on your riding style you might have to look into a revalve or different shocks in the rear skid. The 1.75 will be nice if your a back country rider. As it sits there is not to much transfer in the skid. And maybe some of the other issues, but other than that it's a great price! They handle great and with the amount of mods out there HP is endless!! So the money you save on the sled, you would have tons of things you can do to make it a little better!

I'm sure the dealer will handle all recalls/issues before delivery. I'd imagine all recalls that we're experienced on the '14's are corrected on the Spring LTX LE with exception to a clamp on the fuel line (recall issued by Yamaha already) and a possible reflash to the ECU to fix any possible hot start issues. Yamaha has not officially announced this one yet.
As YamahaTim points out, the rear skid in this machine is very stiff and out of whack. The center shock is too soft and the rear shock is very stiff and aggressive. They do not work in tandem. You may want to look into getting them revalved appropriately. Maybe $150 for both to be done. Also, Torsion springs are to your preference. If you want comfort, I'd suggest going down one size softer. If you want bump banging ability, keep the stock torsion springs on the sled. As always, I'd have the revalve done first and ride the sled to see how you like it. You can always swap torsion springs after a few rides.

I talked to the dealer again today and they told me all recalls and updates including the fuel line were already done which is music to my ears, the big thing I am waiting on is to hear what they will give me for trade in on my old sleds so I can get a more solid number of what my payments and OTD price will be, but after paying for the warranty I think the price will be close to 12k which I still think is a pretty good deal considering the awesome piece of machinery I am going to receive. I also mentioned to them the re-valve and the fact that the suspension is not set up correctly from the factory, they recommended that I drive it before I make any drastic changes. I might have to be with them on this one, I don't want to be making changes to the sled when I haven't put any miles on it. I think the best thing for me to do is to wait until I can drive it, test it, and make the appropriate changes to my preferred riding style.

I bought a spring release 2015 LTX-LE (orange and blue) in Wiscinsin in late February. Price out the door with extra warranty and tax was 12,208. I purchased the extra 4 years of YES warranty at a cost of 890. Base price on the sled was 11,600 before tax and warranty.
Mine was spring 2014 release as display during the summer of 14 into the 14/15 winter. Those models were basically 14 SE models with 15 paint jobs and graphics, and a few goodies (better purse on the tunnel, heated seated, etc).
Those spring release sleds had the 1.25 Ripsaw II which I like for trail riding. It is pretty good off trail if you pick your battles. I boondock with a group on XTX's and can hold my own. It's no mountain sled, but it will go most all of the places the true crossovers will go if it doesn't get too steep. It's all about momentum with the short lug track.
I did have the rear shocks revalved after 300 miles as they are valved very stiff. Rebound was too slow and the suspension would pack up and not drop back out for the second bump resulting in kickback. I ride with torsions on soft now and the sled is a whole different animal. Plush on trails and can still rail the bumps without the harsh kickback and minimal bottoming, if any at all. Stutters disappear. Depending on what your looking for, it may be manageable but for me, revalving both rear shocks was the ticket.
Out of the box, it's a great sled. With a few relatively inexpensive things like getting the valving right and maybe carbides and/or skis that suit the majority of your riding, it can be made better than great. Since no sled by any manufacturer is perfect in all respects, I'll settle for better than great any time. I spent $200 re valving shocks, and $200 in carbides inside of 300 miles, and have no absolutely no buyers remorse. The Viper is a ball!

Mark wrote it but Matias agrees! So that's a double approval to buy it.
