Is it called an Expert-Bic? :drink:
Nah, it'll be called a Plast-X. More likely though, the "ZX-2"
Better be PRICED like a piece of plastic. Not like there much cost in molding plastics.

Ha ha. But plastic also comes from petroleum so it could be more expensive. Maybe they should think about making it out of corn instead? I'll bet a stout piece of Red-Oak, Ash, or Hickory would work too - No wait...

PRESS BOARD from Abatibi (sp?)

Doesn't what they make it out of, even if it's recycled garbage. It will be an outrageous price due to the costs of R&D.

I don't know but it might work very well.

Think about when plastic skis were introduced. At first everyone thought they would be too weak, but very quickly everyone found out how they helped to take the harshness out of the ride and now everyone runs plastic skis.

Its also interesting to see he's using an Apex GT as the development platform.

BTW, plastic is only cheap to mold in high volumes because of the NRE costs. The tooling is commonly in the $30,000 per part price range.

I believe this suspension was called the "Millenium" skid when it first surfaced about 10 years ago. Obviously that name will have to go.
Looks interesting; with an injection mold, there is much more freedom concerning the shape of the arms (which appear to be plastic as well) compared to most fabrication methods. It may be possible to have a very light and strong plastic skid, but there are a lot of fatigue issues down there.

I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss this. Plastic could be every bit as strong as aluminum if done right and would certainly be lighter and cheaper to produce in high volume.

Throw a kevlar track on that bad boy and hang on!!

I spoke with them a couple weeks back... they said to keep an eye on the websight this coming fall, and that the Yami would really benefit. It must be obscenely light.

I will be buying one if they know how to make a
friggin idler wheel that wont fall apart!
Buying this entire skid may only be twice as much as what it is costing us to replace the POS stock bogies from YAMMI!

i ran an expert-x for many seasons, great suspension but was really heavy and held alot of snow, this composite one looks great might be 25-35 lbs?

Looks like a nice angle of attack on the front of the rails. Maybe our Yamaha's will go through the snow better with this suspension. Wonder if they will make one for the Attak?

ad bovien skid

Hello all am feeling a little better after a long term illness I am a expert dealer and will talk with the them about a group buy on the new type skid this fall. I think we should try for 20 units I would do it if I could get just one free skid for myself. would be about 10% over dealer cost you pay your shipping what do you think guys? also for a partner on this as I am not that hot on a keyboard but will do the dickering with ad bovin I still have gobs of snow here we ride till around may 25th here. Also has anyone with mono skids lost a rail due to hyfax flying out the back and wearing the rail down like mine yamaha was not to happy with me wanted the rail back with the hyfax after I lost the hyfax irondog rtx out kim
