Welcome to the site; there are a lot of very knowledgeable people here who have helped me to know and enjoy my Viper. You will also read negative posts about the Vipers, and the issues that people have had with them, but overall, they are a great sled. I now have three Vipers in my trailer, and adding them all together there are about 18,000 miles of great riding represented by those three sleds.
Free advice is generally worth what you pay for it, but the one modification which has most contributed to our enjoyment of our Vipers was to get rid of the Tuner skis. There are lots of options, and we all have our favorite combinations, but the bottom line is that when you do ride your sled, you probably will find that, depending upon snow conditions, the Tuners push badly in the corners. Take heart, with the right skis and carbides, you can have your Viper running like a freight train on rails.

X2 on those tuner skis.cat skis are a cheap upgrade.oil change and chaincase change once a year and good to go.

Had identical sled. The dx shock package is very underrated IMO.
Obviously they have there limits but overall not a bad ride.
1- ditch the tuner ski’s
2-ditch the factory coupler blocks and install a racewerx 6 position coupler assembly.
3- relocate the fuse box
Make any other changes as you put miles on.
What I really liked about that chassis was,it responded well the harder you rode it in the rough stuff.

What brand/model sled are you coming from? Or are you new to sledding altogether?

2016 RTX SE
Welcome to the forum! And welcome to YAMAHA!!! You will love that LTX DX model. I’m on my second LTX DX and they’re a very nice (plush) ride. I also have a RTX SE that I can’t wait to try out this season.
As others have said, ditch the tuner skis!!! AC skis are good, just make sure you get something with a single keel design. Pretty sure tuners are the only dual keel ski out there so anything but tuners will be good!
Lots of great info on here and guys are always willing to help out!
Enjoy the new scooter!
