So, i want a longer track, simply based on reading, haven't ridden my rx-1 yet b/c i just bought it last weekend. It's a 2003 Mtn.

Here's my question: Been searching and reading up....i want to put a 162" track on my sled, i'm thinking of just buying the MPI kit to put it all together.

945 bucks, is everything there? Would i need to modify anything or do i just bolt off, bolt on so to speak?

Also, would i need to add more juice [ie: turbo] to be able to turn the longer track?

Seems like this would be a common question but couldn't find the basic answer to it.

Thanks in advance,
Christian

Before spending $$$ on the longer track, decide what to do about your skid. The angle of attack on the 03' is STEEP so a longer track will help but your still gonna dig down quick. Get a new skid as part of that project rather than just throwing extensions on. I bought my M7 skid, brackets, track, and tunnel extension for about $1100 and was able to sell my track and skid for about $450. I don't think you will have to have a turbo to turn that track, it really isn't that much longer or heavier but to each his own. Good luck.

I agree with Trxster, the 03 skid is not that great of a skid for the powder. The mpi transfer kit will help with transfer but the approach angle still sucks. I installed a mountain cat 151 skid with big wheels for a 162 track. Wolrd of differance in weight, approach angle and transfer! All with out too much trouble or rolling the chain case.
You should also relocate the battery (ytz7s) to right foot well. takes 15 lbs off the front for cheap ($98 for battery) and makes oil filter changes easy. I would also ad '05 mountain skies to keep it on top.
As for power, you really dont need a turbo with a 162. But you may need to gear it down and run '05 clutching as well.
I also have '05 151 RX1 skid part for sale, everything except for rails, wheels and axles. All you would need are '06 162 rails! I was going to use on my sled, but cat skid works about the same.

I have the 162" MPI Kit on my '03 RX-1mtn. Everything is included (rail extension, tunnel extension and hardware, you just remove the old and install the new. It took me about 12 hrs total to do the rails, tunnel extension, anti ratchet drivers and swap the track.

I bought my kit and track from MPI at the same time and they gave me a fairly good discount. I got it all for around $850 shipped. This is not counting Extros.

Here is a picture of the sled with the MPI kit installed.
