Hey guys,
I'm going to be installing NOS on my sled when I get back home in September and I have a couple of questions.
I read the installation instructions on the NX website, and it says to install the bottle laying down with the hose pointing down. When I was looking through the installation pictures here, I see the bottles upright. Does it matter how the bottle is orientated?
My next question is on fuel.
I'm looking to put on a 40hp shot.
I run 87 all the time. Do you have to run 91 or higher all the time if you don't have the external tank? I was thinking about how these motors like the lower octane as far sticky rings go. Will a 40 hp shot cause damage on 87 octane?
I never messed around with NOS before, I want to do it right the first time.

Thanks

You will need 91 on the 40hp shot. If your bottle has a siphon tube in it then your ok to orient anyway you like just make sure the tube is in the spot in the bottle where it will catch all the fluid under heavy accell.

Remember the 40hp NX based kits are at the wheels hp numbers so they are usually actually 16-18% higher then that, dont skimp on the gas it will detnonate. Some kits are 40hp at the engine and not the wheels (say in a car) so they will say 40hp is fine on 89+ but your actually running a 55hp+ shot when using the 40hp jets so you'll need more octane. This is the lowest shots you can go so you cant do too much damage. Run 87 on long trips and stuff and on days you suspect you'll use the nitrous put in the good stuff.

BTW my 80hp nx shot is stupid fast, I'm going back to a 40hp shot for next year and get more bottle life.

With the guys I ride with it will probably be used daily!
I was concerned about issues with 91 as far as gumming up the rings. If it better to run 87 with the extra tank for the race fuel I'll do it. I just want what is best for the motor life overall

You wont 'gum' anything up when running nitrous. Its only after prolonged use with premium on the stock engine that some things can develop. I wouldn't worry too much about that. Make sure you got the right octane in there, that is best for motor life! LOL

I like the seperate tank and fuel pump so I can run 87 usually that is all we got when on the trail. I then use VP 116 in the half gallon tank and can get about 4 bottles to one tank of race fuel. More then enough fun. If you get somewhere and your stuck with 87 you'll have to refrain from using the happy button where as with the tank just run when you got everything full!

Thanks for the info, I'm going to go with the tank. It's just going to be a little more work. I have the electronics for my hid's up in the front of the sled. I'll have to look for some other mounting spots for that hardware.
Oh yeah, one more question. Are the cr10ek's cool enough to run or is there a different plug you use.
Thanks again for all your help!
