When I shift into reverse on my phazer, it starts beeping and the r light blinks and doesnt move. I get off and move the sled a bit. Is this always how you have to do it? what about in a foot of snow where you cant move it? It does the same thing when going into foward again. Can you just shut the sled off and start it again and it will go away?

I used to rock it back and fourth to get it to shift into gear until i brought it to the dealer to get fixed. :o|

if it flashes a '88' code you want to check the white/red wire that is connected to the gear switch but you have to remove the seat and tank to make sure it is not burned from the exhaust. if it does not flash any code use a shim in the secondary clucth p/n:90201-345G2

is it bad to turn the sled off to reset that?

no thats usually how you have to do it unless you shake it. if its not throwing a code i would just install the 1mm shim.(part # above)

my dealer said they have a update for that. yamaha has a new belt out for the phazer now.

the shim kit is junk, the belt squeels and makes unholy noises. I run the bad reverse, it's one hell of alot better then no rev. anways mine ussually engages when i jump on the running boards, then when everything is warmed up is has no issues.

Have you guys tried engaging it while moving very slowly forward?I see alot of other makes do that with gearboxes.Never saw it hurt anything.

unfotunatly my left hand doesn't like to let go of the bar more then it needs to....my banshee used to shift like that so it kinda would make sence never really thought about it.

So are you saying you still got the squeal with the new belt that Yamaha claims to be a solution?

I'm curious because I have to try the new belt as soon as we get snow and I can drive it to the dealer. Last season a shim was installed that did not solve the problem but caused the squeal. I'm thinking that if something can be engaged by jumping or moving it, shouldn't they be able to fix it so it works right? That would save some embarrassment for me and Yamaha.

Thanks
