Well, the RX-1 is gone. Yesterday I found a dealer with a demo Apex RTX and rode it about 6 miles on rough trails. It was awesome, of course. I went all out at bumps that would've made me cringe while riding my RX.
Today I went to the Yamaha Demo ride in Redfield, NY. Only a 1.5 hour drive. I rode an Attak, another RTX and a regular Apex. Each one was very close, and that was a good thing. The Attak is not as noticeably different in ride quality as those on this site claim. It smoothed out small bumps a little bit better, but that's it. The Apex front end seemed a tad heavy and handled a little worse than the RTX. The previous and the looks of the RTX sealed the deal.
I drove right from the demo show to my dealer. I got $5500 trade in on my RX-1, plus no freight and set-up.
I took the RX-1 for an 80 mile run last night and the ProAction beat me up and gave me a sore back for the last time. Still, I will miss her. 7000 miles of trouble-free riding is definitely noteworthy.
