This is the most common sense post that has been posted to date on this topic. The rest is just opinion! And any thing that some one has read some where is simply another opinion. If any one of you guys ever get the chance to visit an Ethanol plant and ask question's, I would highly recommend it. You will be surprised at the cost of production and the number of byproduct's and there value.nate007 said:Ah... the evil genius's of the universe thread....
Someone in here mentioned the "big picture" thing, and I wasn't going to say anything, but almost everyone that argues this stuff definitely misses many things when emotion and biased opinions set in.
-Yes, it's different. It burns different, behaves different, reacts different. So what?
-If you really think about this whole thread, for the time this thread has been running, and everybody in here has been bickering about this and that, criticising someone from their keyboard, (typing things that Id bet most of you probably would never say to someones face like this) everybody in here couldve cleaned their carbs, tanks, lines, or whatever, converted, jetted, tuned their sleds to run on what is probably inevitable for everybody worldwide anyway? Why argue its advantages or disadvantages when everybody here is eventually going to have to learn to adapt to it -or some other source?
-I'm not a farmer. Couldn't probably grow much of anything if I tried. (Yes I do live in Iowa too) Many of you know I own a speed shop and I work on almost anything that could be considered an enthusiast vehicle. I don't hesitate to put Ethanol in almost anything here, because most of the parts you buy these days arent effected by it. Hence my previous statement that we will evolve? I've tuned my supercharged 2010 Camaro to run on E85, 91 octane, 110, 115, 89, etc etc. and probably tried and tuned for all of them. Other than $7 per gallon race gas, the E85 ethanol made the most power! and its the cheapest per gallon to boot. Now factoring in the loss of fuel economy it averages out financially anyway, but my point is that you guys probably wouldn't spend much, if any more on "ethanol-proofing" than you normally SHOULD at tune up time anyway!!??
My point here is this. If those of you who are arguing the drawback of it eating up your fuel lines, carb gaskets, etc, how long has it been since you last tune up? Almost anything to rebuild carbs and fuel systems is ethanol safe, and been that way for years, so are you arguing that you don't want to give the 'ol tobaggan a once over? Come on?
So tune up your machines to run whatever you have around you? If your friends, neighbors, or someone you dont even know is going to put food on his families table and work hard for something that (today at least) is believed to be a benifit for the economy, environment, or whatever, why not support it? None of us are most likely the guys who are investing millions of dollars to research things that are believed to move the world forward?
I'd be more concerned why brain surgery is STILL considered a "practice".....![]()

dhkr123 said:No personal attacks... huh? Is this your way to propose a truce by offering to cease with the personal attacks? If that is your intention, it would help if you could stick with it at least until the end of your post. There is nobody in this thread who has issued more PERSONAL ATTACKS than YOU have!
Evidently, you DO NOT know where to draw the line, which is why you have been given asked to stop.
Not sure if this was meant for me or not?? I do want to call an end to this, I made a couple of off color comments in response to someone else. Kviper and I have let it go. Someone had said something about me being 27 and knowing more in 20 years. So I responded. I think if you read back to all my posts ASIDE from the posts with kviper, which I apologized for I tried to keep things a little light hearted. YES I'M READY FOR IT TO DIE!!!!! Please leave me out of the rest of posts, I will admit that my being 27, I do find it hard to NOT respond to someone saying something against me, hey maybe in 20 years I can let it go thanks hayastusa LOLOLOL

I'm running my 68 Dodge on the same fuel I'm running my Warrior on. So far no problems with either. The Dodge has a two year old Edelbrock four barrel on it.
So far so good!
But what is this about iridium plugs of the same heat range being a jet size different. Lost me on that one!

The Canadian tire in my town sells only Ethanol free gas 87, 89 and 91. Its all I run it in my truck 2010 ram 1500 5.7 and I think I get better economy than the ethanol gas from other stations (god knows that truck needs all the help it can get in the fuel economy department) and my new sled is only going to get that (save for when I am out of town)
P.S I pay 139.9 /L 91 octane
Also on the lake in the summer the marinas only sell premium ethanol free fuel because of problems that have been had in the past (they charge an extra $0.10 = $149.9 /L)
I am going to need to get a job soon before I go broke
