Just took my sled out for the first time today and it was great! I dont know if it was the 40 -50 lbs I took off but it carved and sidehilled way better then I would have thought.Got to poke at a few hills but we're hurt'n for snow,ONLY 3 1/2 TO 4 ". Found a meadow and raced by buddy on his 02 800 rmk ,smoked him by 4 sled lengths in 500 feet ,I was stoked!,he was choked. Anyway when we went to leave the cabin I tried to start my sled ,NOTHING! Started freaking, turned the kill switch on and off again a bunch of times ,nothing,oh my god ,my worst fear of this machine had come true on my first ride.Buddy's like,is it in reverse or somethingt?NO,but then I put it in reverse and it STARTED! WTF!
I just had reverse installed ,is there some sort of reverse safety switch that might be out of adjustment?I went straight to the truck, loaded it tried it again no problems.
Still over all a killer first 4 stroken day!My freinds are in for a big surprise when i get my turbo! (I told them all that I have a special exhaust coming)

My mechanic said theres no safety switch in the reverse setup.Has anyone had problems with there kill switch? It was like the kill switch was on. There was no juice what so ever.

If all juice was gone, and then came back all of a sudden:check the wires to the batterypoles, killswitch, ignition and so on.

If it's a mechanical reverse (and it has to be) and the only thing you moved was the reverse handle and it started it has to be a safety switch of some sort as you stated above OR the actual movement of the handle is pinching a wire or bundle somewhere behind the handle. That would be my very unimformed guess. Best of luck. Merry Christmas.

Do a check by unplugging your kill switch and check it open and closed....work the switch....try to make it fault. It sounds like the swith is intermittently bad. If it doesn't even crank it has to be that switch or a loose battery connection.

Sounds like the TORS you sure your throttle lever wasnt mabee stuck open and either the snap of the reverse or the click of the kill switch didnt unstick the throttle, Myself i would check the throttle cable adjustment.

Please explain why u think that it is the tors not working???
I would go for the kill switch! if it happens a again i would simply unplugg the kill switch and give it annother try also chek your fusebox located right above the the lever for reverse if the red one goes out it wont turn over, dont ask

Won't start
I had a chafed wire on the harness to the key switch last year and that killed it. But that blew the fuse. Your's sounds like a loose connection.

First i think the TORS is working . The TORS system uses two switchs on each end of the throttle cable. If the ecm sees either switch open when its not suposed to be it cuts the spark. The TORS switch in the throttle lever has stuck on me before exactly like he mentioned. Also if you unplug the kill switch it wont run for sure cause it is a n/o switch the kill switch is 3 wire one black/whit-kill switch black/yellow-TORS black-ground if you unplug the kill switch you are also unplugging the TORS as well. You are correct on the red wire it is the main battery feed to the starter solinoid. I also believe a brand new sled wont have wiring problems (seeing how they corrected the routing of the harness for 04) as much as it would be out of adjustment? Yamaha have always uses n/c kill switchs so u cannot just unplug it and start it not like the rest of the manufactures so unplugging the kill switch will do noting for testing except confirm the sled dosent start.

Its my light weight batt.I went for a ride today and the second time I shut it off it would'nt start again, nothing.I was prepared though, I had a little battery jumper in my pack and hooked it to the remote jumper leads and it fired up.Took off the airbox disconected the battery, hooked up the battery cables directly to the jumper and it fired up again.Something must have shorted out inside the batt. I guess I got lucky the first time I went out! I think this is the same battery climbmax used all last year and I don't think he had any problems.I'M not sure what kind it is but it looks like some sort of stand by power battery. It didn't wreck my day though, other then jump starting it all day, I rode the rest of the day with my speedo, engine lights, and tack, blinking.I hope its okay to ride with no battery.

I forgot to mention the most important thing,I raced and beat my buddy's 900 mountain cat twice! Stock clutching! I thought these things were supposed to be slow and heavy?
