NO WARRANTY ON YOUR BATTERY

Sure enough, my battery died during storage too, one year old. I figured it would be fine to leave it in the sled this year and not worry about trickle charging it, I was wrong.

I can't even boost it, it will not take a charge...it's dead.

I just ordered an Odyssey battery (heard and read good things) from Total Battery for $113 Cdn! I thought that was a pretty decent price. I was considering buying another YUASA battery ($85 @ Royal Dist.), but am soured on them.

HA! Yeah that explains a lot. Sucks Yamaha and others are fronting the bill for negligence on others part. A friend of mine ran his phazer dry of oil from stuppidity (left the old oil ring on from the filter, doubled it up and blew it out after the change draining it) and yamaha replaced the whole engine under warrenty. It's a lot like insurance fraud to me. People need to take responsibility for their wrong doings and this post would've never started.
They build a great sled but when we don't follow instructions or make our own interpretaions of how things are supposed to be done, things break because we think we know better and we don't. I'm a engineer who knows the details of the things I design. Nobody else does or ever will but everyone else seems to think they know best. Follow instructions, the service manual to a T and don't leave steps out with ANYTHING and most problems are avoided. If we all did that then Yamaha would have no problems fronting the bill for their honest mistakes. Sorry,, I'm sounding off._________________

Check my post on Battery Recall currently in effect.

Your post where? You've made about a dozen posts on this forum since January of this year none of which seem to be about batteries based on this search:

I didn't find anything either, but I can vaguely remember reading something about a battery recall. How about reminding us, Traildale ?

*EDIT * I just found it http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=79621

I'll get my dealer to check into it, Thanks ;)!

Man you guys are quick! Two "where is your post" replys while I was busy actually writing the post in the General forum.
Next time I'll post first and them refer back to it once its done.
I'll let you know if I can get the service bulletin details tomorrow.

PLease do let us know, because I contacted my dealer already since you posted it, and he said he's only had one battery recalled so far. He said it was due to it having the incorrect acid in the battery.

I'll be on my 3rd battery when this one gets replaced today. Two years and 3 batteries? I had to foot the bill for all sorts of handwarming options on this sled (hundreds of $$) and now batteries. Good thing I purchased the extended warranty, or not. 1800 miles on the sled. I would think normal battery life would be at a minimum of 3 years. I understand normal wear and tear items, but something's not right with the battery.

Buy a PC680 from oddesy and be done with it. Much better battery and its AGM as well. Or buy a AGM from wallymart or canadian tire with a real warranty.

I had one warrantied. My 2009 XTX, the battery lost a cell. Dealership said that when talking to Yuasa , when metal prices were so high. The cost for virgin lead was so high, so they resorted to recycled lead and they have had issues with those batteries with recycled lead.

I bought the Optimate 4 and it brought my battery back to life. Started right up today and it was 15 degrees out another bonus is all the light on the charger.
