So my Nytro is an '09 with the original track on it. The lugs are getting bent severely and are also starting to tear. I am going to get by with what I have on for the rest of the season but am looking to replace it this fall. What have you guys been replacing the stock tracks with and what am I looking to spend for parts and install? I will go to the mountains maybe 2 times a year. Mostly trail and meadow riding for me. I believe the track is a 153 x 2. I want something durable that will get me in and out of some decent powder. Like the title of the topic says, I'm a noob so as much help from you guys will make things a lot easier.

kind regards

There are two main choices for the nytro and it depends on what type of snow you ride in which one will work better for you. The 2.25" lug Powerclaw or the 2.5" camoplast challenger extreme are the most popular. Each one will change the sled completely. I personally have the 2.25 powerclaw and think it is a great track. Other people swear by the challenger extreme. you cant go wrong with either of them. I have heard the new tracks like the Attack work well but have heard issues about durability with them.
If you ride more trails the Exterme might be too much of a track for you its is more for bottomless powder. The 2.25 powerclaw may be a better option of the two. The stock MTX track is a 2.25" track and has a pitch of 3". You do have to swap out your drivers if you go with a powerclaw track but most people go with anti-ratchet drivers when they swap out the track anyway. you can use stock drivers with the powerclaw you just need to modify the track slightly to make it work

A quick search on google shopping puts them each at around $1000.00. Check with your Yammi dealer on the CE, Arctic Cat makes the Powerclaw.

I know up here in Ak one can sometimes find the PC used.

I have the CE 2.5. It hooks up very nice in the snow. It made a huge difference. Like bholmlate says, it doesn't do well on trails (hard pack, driveway or ice) but in anything else it rocks.

There is nothing wrong with a Attack 20. The key is getting one that has only has been rum in Hill Climb rotation. The other not mentioned is the original Challenger 2.25". There are quite a few of these still out there for around $400 new. Check Ebay. You can find a new or almost new Attack 20 for around $300. There are no modifications needed for either of these tracks. They make a difference that you can not even describe!

I just got a Camoplast Challenger Extreme 162 x 15 x 2.5 for $750 brand new and that INCLUDED SHIPPING TO MY DOOR!!! Don't pay $1000, call around, several site sponsors will have this price.

Ive always ran camo extremes but Alaska tends to have denser snow. If you ride a lot of trails I'd look for a 153x2.25 Powerclaw, or try and find one of the older 153x2.25 cat camo challengers. If you can't get what you need from a site sponsor, the Snowest classifieds are a great place to look. Lots of used 153 Powerclaws. You might consider looking for a 90 Durometer Powerclaw, it should hold up to long term trail use better than the softer 80 Duro.
