What are the best scratchers out there to buy and how much? What kind of clutching and gearing are trailriders using at sealevel?

I cut down the lugs a little and put on a set of scratchers. Did 2300 kms with a lot of trail riding with a couple of trips on very hard packed trails. The scratchers work well. Replaced the hyfax at the end of the season just so I wouldn't have to do it in the fall. They only seem to wear in one place and then stop.
Love the sled. I had a 144 sabercat before and this sled works as well on the trail . Its great in the pow and the extra length over my 144 in not an issue at all. Top end is not too bad as well.
The only thing I will change is stiffer springs in the rear. Very soft. Good on the trail but not heavy enough for the play times.
Great sled for the price.

I use all stock clutching and gearing on my XTX here in MN with the exception of having 3.5g steel rivets in the toe with the mid and heel empty.
This set-up also works pretty well out West during late season up to about 9,000ft - above that it's pretty much a pooch.
Run a 1.75" Backcountry with Curve XS shoes - rider weight's about 280 with full gear and pack. . . .

My sled is totally stock. The highest elevation we can get here on the rock is approx 2500 ft. All they did with mine was install a sealevel kit before I picked it up. I think she sled is set up for above 6000 ft on delivery. Not sure on that though.
I don't know what gearing is in that kit but I would like to know the difference. ......Anyone?????

Where are you on the rock?
I had the same kit installed in mine. I could be wrong, but I thought it had to do with replacing springs and or weights in the clutch and the gearing was left untouched.

Could be... I'm not sure. The dealer said they would put the kit on before delivery. How can I tell if they did anything. I don't have the shroud off mine very often. Only to check the oil. The one on the left side has only been off once in 2300kms. .
If it ain't broke don't fix itSimilar threads
