I am wondering if anyone ever had a 2000 Venture 600(3-cyl) touring 2-up and could comment on the sled. The good/bad/ugly of it? My brother is looking into one now and it is for sale for $3,700. It has 1,000 miles on it. Is the engine reliable? What kind of gas mileage does it get? Will it handle ok since my brother is about 225lbs and his wife is 110lbs? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

The 600 motor is very dependable and gets pretty good fuel mileage. The price for the sled is not to bad mabey a tad to high but the mileage is low. The suspension should handle their combined weight , if not all you have to do is put in a different spring. The main thing is if the sled looks like it has been taken care of.

My wife rides a '02 Vmax 600 Deluxe (pretty much the same sled as that Venture w/o the two-up seat) The 600 triple is very smooth and the ride is very nice. I have had a little bit of clutch work done to it so it engages a little smoother (someone F'd up the clutching out of the crate) but it runs so smooth now. This sled is absolutely spotless and I do regular matinence on it. It has 1900 miles on it and I asked my dealer last week what it was worth...he said about $2650.

I had a 2000 Venture 600 ( just sold it, bought a 2007)..It was a great sled, very reliable, good on gas and oil...Suspension will hold that weight no problem set up right...That price seems close expecially with only 1000 miles on it..I found the 600 motor little under powered for me, ( I ride with Vmax 4 and 700 Crosssfires ).. The ride is awsome, it's very smooth you won't go wrong .....

Thanks for the info guys. Another question that came up is my brother is wondering if anyone might know the HP the 600 puts out. He is on the fence and is trying to decide between a 2002 Polaris 500 classic (2-up) or the 2000 Yamaha Venture. I am pushing him towards Yamaha blue. Thanks again guys.

I believe it is around the 105 HP mark..I know that the Venture will be alot better on gas and a better ride then the Classic ...I ride with a guy that has a 500 Classic 2 up...It's a nice sled but I think the Venture is the way to go....

I had been riding a '99 Vmax 600 Deluxe up until this year (New Apex) and have kept it for my son to ride. This was the first year of the 600 triple, and it's been bulletproof. I've got over 6200 miles on it, and it still runs like a champ. I made and installed some reed spacers, not a huge improvement, but a minor one. Also installed Boyesen dual stage reeds - can't say I'd really recommend them, though. I didn't notice any performance improvement, but my fuel mileage seems go have gotten lower. Still love the sound of that triple!

BTW, 105 hp is about correct for this motor. It's a little misleading, though. It's so smooth it tends to be "sneaky fast".

Great dependable sled and engine. I'm with yammie3687 I think its a little pricey for a six year old sled. Just my opinion.
