well got some snow and cold so thought I would try out my new helmet. The mouthpiece that moves up and down doesn't clamp in the metal rods strong enough and it leaves a big gap and already getting frost bite. A $400 f***** helmet with this kind of engineering to have wind and snow get in is pathetic

I'm still trying to find a helmet I like. I've almost got a helmet for each sled now.

That's too bad, I thought this was going to be good. I will still be running my 6 year old Klim F4 with Scott goggles I guess.

I have had a bunch of modulars over the years, mostly HJC's, and most recently the Yamaha FXR Fuel helmet. I have used it two seasons, and it is not perfect (most of the time I need to use the electric shield to keep it from fogging up) but it is a very comfortable and warm helmet compared to the others that I have used. The Klim F4 with Klim goggles; it is the most comfortable helmet I have ever worn, but even with the liner, it is so well ventilated that it is a bit drafty for the bitter cold days.

i use hjc modular most of the time without the breath box. have a full face hjc for a cold weather back-up/loaner and ckx snocross style helmet with the breath box in. all have heated sheilds. counting bike helmets i have 7 floating around counting my old open face from the 80's.

I put a shield heater cord on my viper and am using the heated helmet shield. Not the quad type of helmet. I don't like the cable but hey if your not fogging up and your warm who cares

Don't underestimate the CKX Tranz modular helmet. It's a budget helmet that performs admirably. I had an HJC Evolve and Gmax 46 which both totally sucked. I've tried on Skidoo's modular series and BVS2, but felt that they are just too confining...almost giving me a claustrophobic feeling. I'm on my second Tranz helmet now only because I needed a new electric shield and a new helmet with shield was only $30 more than just buying the shield alone at the time.
To the OP, contact seller and/or CKX and file a complaint. A helmet that doesn't function right should be sent back immediately and refunded or replaced. I did it with my GMAX.
