Snow conditions play alot into what some of you are saying. Give me 1 to 2 feet of "fresh" powder and just about anything is going to trench. Give that meadow a day or 2 of cold sunshine to let it "set up" and its ready for me. JMO> My Attak does pretty good in around my area.

Re: 07 Attack
XCR5 I agree with you completly, on this point! Deep mogul riding on an Attak gets the seld out of wack after only 4-5 in a row. Seems like I have to just knock the speed down for a quick second, hammer back on ( and it feels ok for 4-5 more ) then your back a point zero. The front just starts to lay flat and doen't want to rebound. It seems like just not the right shock or calibration for that combo of weight and rough terrain! Been looking for feedback on Fox Floats, maybe they would support the front end better. Just a bit frightened that the plushness in the small chatter might deminish. Somehow we should be able to take a sled this great, and rectify that downfall, any sugestions?xcr5 said:Sorry guys but for those that say you won't feel the extra weight I have to dissagree. First let me say I owned a 06 attack last year and was impressed with the sled overall (so much so that I ordered a 07 RTX). That being said, the APEX/Attacks are heavy and feel heavy! On groomed trails at trail speeds they're not bad at all, but in stock form when I took my Attack off trail I noticed the weight right away! Stock skis sucked and so did the stock track. Combination of a track that wanted to trench and skis that don't float very well meant you are going to get stuck if your in any kind of serious snow sooner or later. The first time you dig this thing out compared to digging out a REV you'll be shaking your head at the 4 stroke! The rear end isn't that heavy but that front end is a bear.
IMO that ATTACK in stock form is meant for groomed trails and does a decent job. The next time you'll really notice the weight is when you're riding in typical late afternoon/weekend trails in the UP of MI. Last trip I was on I rode a 20mi section of trail that hadn't been groomed in a week and had 2'+ holes the whole length of trail. After that 20mi there was no doughting the weight on the front end of the Apex, stock shocks couldn't keep the nose in the air and it tired you much quicker then a lighter 2 stroke.
Craze, your approach on different skis and track should improve it's off trail behavior but if you get stuck as often as you say. I would be looking into a gym membership and start eating some spinach!!!
Congrats on your purchase the 07 Attack is a sharp looking sled!

Eureka! It actually worked....here's the rest.
I'll offer a little tech tip of my own. Yes, that is an engine crane supporting the rear of the sled. This is the single best tool I have ever used when working on snowmobiles....smooth, predictable, capable of raising the sled very high in the air, works equally well on the front end, and strong enough to lift the ENTIRE sled up to about waist level with a carfeully thought out sling that supports front and rear. Any of you fellow motorheads with such a piece of equipment...make sure to keep it handy for sled repairs, when working on your suspension espeically...

Nice sled. Yep, the key's different. The '06's are a switchblade style that rotates the key inside itself.
I like the engine hoist, but I prefer an overhead chain hoist better. That way, there are no leg frames in the way when lying on a creeper and motoring around the floor.
Thanks for the pics.

Man there is not a shock i can think of that will make small chatter smooth like afox floats do,they do everything excelent, and than some..Bodacious said:XCR5 I agree with you completly, on this point! 07's
Bodacious - my suggestion or at least my thoughts on the subject were to order a 07 RTX - floats up front, more aggressive, more agressive rear suspension and when I'm done stretching it to 136" it should be the ticket for my style of riding!

I certainly won't disagree with a high mounted winch lift...especially electric! Very cool. My shop has a poor ceiling for holding such weight, so not a good option for me, thus the engine crane works very well for my situation.

Got to say - I'm not really crazy with yamaha's fix on the bars. The material they are using on the grips is similiar to what they used on past vipers. I've found this to wear quickly end ends up slippery. I really liked the material they used on last years grips...
Oh and I'm going to miss my fancy KEY (LOL)....

Does the rear suspension arm look a little different than the 06?????? The hanlebars look like they might be a touch wider than the 06's also. If you look close it looks like the Yamaha hand gaurds should have no problem fitting this year.

Nice pics Craze.

No....sorry.
Oh...one more mention on a regularly debated topic. My covered Triton 10 foot 2 placer fits this sled just fine, actually with about 8 to 10 inches to spare. You gotta remember that Triton gives the nice diamond-plated bulging front end on their covers for the skis to poke over the front edge of the trailer deck....most other covered trailers don't have this bulge, and for those it will likely be VERY tight. But certainly there's no need for a 12 footer if you're looking at a capped Triton to haul your Attak.
Mine looks like this, but it's not a drive-off v-nose...just a standard tilt bed with a flat front. I have the exact same aluminum cap, though. No complaints except I had to add my own rear recessed d-rings for rear tie-down.
