Just so you don't get your hopes up, all the Vipers at the show are the prototype models.

Yep, the Yamaha reps said the closest sled to production is the model on display with the plastics off...

How was the show ? it seems to be getting smaller every year with not as good of deals as there used to be ( like 6 , 8 years ago )

I work in the industry and have several dealers here that I am supporting who are retailing several of my brands. Every one of them have reported that business is way up compared to last year. Milwaukee was the same story.
There really are a lot of great deals at the shows and the dealers/retailers in attendance travel some pretty large distances (many are local to the area as well) and really appreciate all the enthusiasts who come out to get all geared up.
If you are near enough to one of these shows please come out and support the retailers who are there to interact with you. Without attendance and people buying stuff these shows simply wouldn't exist and that would be a tragedy considering this is a great opportunity to see all the latest and greatest products from all the popular brands in the industry.
Also, if anyone has requests for things they would like to see at shows (products and etc) then don't be shy and voice your opinions to the people running the retail booths. Trust me, they listen and will consider whatever makes sense for them... and what makes sense is when enough people voice their thoughts about the same/or similar things.

I'm a MFG rep for multiple brands but not here to market them. I've got a Viper LTX snow-checked so just here to be an enthusiast like most everyone else here...
Shoot me a PM and we can go from there bud.
Cool beans just didn't know if you sold something I need.
beer stills stands - your close enough that if you want to ride I will be heading to the yooper at least once a week. I'm stoked about being back to Yammi and looking forward to a 5 to 10 k mile year up there and maybe 1 or 2 rides in West Yellowstone

Talked to a couple of Yamaha rep's and my dealer sales person at the show.
They said there were 70-some changes to the Viper compared to the Cat.
The areas I thought most interesting were.
The Viper uses Yamaha wire harness and their ECU mapping.
The reps recommended to buy the Yamaha belt and not the Cat's. The Yamaha belt is 4mm shorter then the Cat 7000.
The Cat belt will work but performance will be off.
They also recommended the dual carbides.
They said engine power is a bit less then the Nytro's. But the sled base weight is 505 lbs.
Performance comparison's should be close.
Sled delivery's should be in mid-November.

They said pretty much what the magazin's said. Mechanical adjuster, Yamaha gears and chain.
They didn't comment on ratio's. I had asked but they wouldn't tell me.
What did say was interesting was they changed the touque shaft bearings to a fixed type bearing.
Cat uses pivot type bearing housing on the torque shaft so they have more room for alignment.
By going to this fixed type bearing Yamaha pretty much eleinated any belt failures.
They said of three sleds being tested and a combined mileage of over 9000 miles. Only one one blew a belt at the 3000 mile range.
