- 2011 Nytro MTX slowly being modded
2005 IQR Trail Converted
So with living in Southern WI & riding WI trails & off trail in the UP my 153 AC float skid is just over kill. I've decided to down size it to a 141 Float skid. To simplify the process & still have the option to run the 153 I'm just swapping the rails out & putting a shorter tunnel extension on.
The 153 float skid I have is from a 2011 M8 & the new rails are from a 2015 Yamaha Viper XTX model.
There will be some small modifications that will need to be done
- some holes on the new rails will need to drill out larger (no an issue)
- I had to swap out my current 2- wheel anti-stab kit for a 4-wheel because the new rails will use the ant-stab as the limiter strap connection point as well ($105 for the new anti-stab)
- Rear axle adjusters will need to changed out. The new style Yamaha & AC rear axle adjusters changed from the old M-series skid. ($15 could be cheaper if you get the bolts /nuts from the hardware store)
- Last since I have OFT's Big Nut triple rear axle I had to get new outer & inner spacers from him. Rick from OFT is such a great guy to deal with & was able to get me the new spacers at a good price.
I'll get some pictures of the of the differences & parts needed this weekend if I get to work on it some more.

Now the tear down of the old tunnel has begun!
Removal of the old tunnel was straight forward, drilling out old rivets Take tunnel off. It actually went really smooth & the worst part was having to us a vise grip on the back of some of the rivets.
Yes I'm doing most of the work in my trailer since I have the extra space in my garage taken up by my IQR.
So up for sale is a MTX tunnle extension & Skinz rear bumper if anyopne is interestred.
The reason I'm going with a XTX tunnel extension & not a shorter one to kit the 141 better is, if I decide to put the 153 back under it you can get away with a 144 tunnel extension. It's not ideal but will work & I'll post some pictures once I get it on with the 153 skid still in.
Right now I'm waiting on parts:
-Hartman 144 extension
-new brake light set
I already have the new bumper for it. The best one I could find was the factory Yamaha XTX one like below but mine is black.

Hmmm. I'm dropping my factory 144 and installing a factory 153 on my Nytro. Adding a Kolpin fuel tank and it wouldn't fit with the 144 extension. I also have a Cat 141 skid setback for 144. And a black XTX bumper. We will kind of have twins lol!
