Yes the Yamaha 4/ run in the 600cc. class. As far as any mods to them I don't know, our sleds are stock. Here is a Apex on the track and a RX-1 setting in the hot pits. The SRX in the top picture is in the Formula 500 class, I think it has a Polaris 500 motor in it. Yes you can change the chassi to make them handle, lower is better on this track, so you can throw the sled into a slide to go around the conner. Them Champ sleds are Wild to watch.RJH said:Has a Yamaha 4/ ever run in this class before - if so - what had been done to it?
Do you have a picture of one racing? Is that a Yamaha in the middle of the top picture?
How did it go?
I guess the 600 class is open chassis - so you can do what you want?

We race ovals also. You can go to our web site to get a bunch of action shots if you like, it is www.teamybracing.com. Last season we ran a RX1 in the Stock 600 class and Pro Stock 600 classes in the Eastern Pro Tour and this year we will be running an Apex. We had planned on making the trip to Eagle this year, but the cost was a bit steep for this year. We plan on going next year for sure.

http://www.derbytrack.com/ Here's Eagle River's web site. On the main page, to the right , go down to Gary Moyles Hood Cam, if you would like to go around the track on a Champ sled.

Ya – I only meant chassis mods. I bet the stock setup only gets about 50HP to the track so lots of room there. Do you use both Yamaha clutches?
So…did you switch shocks to Ohlins as they were shorter for your application? Oval sled shock settings are crucial – so just wondering why you changed. If your track selection and suspension are not top secret - can you tell me which ones you used? I’m surprised you went to a shorter track.

You run both classes – you are allowed the skid and track changes in stock? Great stories. So – the Phazer runs in the 500 class – how does it do there?

Yes, I run in both classes. Last year was our first full season and we are still able to run in the stock/semi pro stock classes. In both classes, you are allowed to do front and rear suspension changes. I have a Wahl rear skid and a mixed front end. Micro Belmont for the housings and fabricated a-arms. Shocks for us are Fox.

Yes, he uses stock yamaha clutches. The Ohlins have stiffer springs than the GYT, but he still uses the long shocks. He shortens the spindles to get it lower. It is just a Wahl 116in. suspension and a low profile race track. This will be the 2nd year for the Phazer at ER. Last year Kris ran 1 heat race, and a Final with the 4stroke Phazer. But after he figered out how to run the Phazer on the track, the race was over, and ended up with 3rd. The Phazer was stock too, no clutch work, stock gearing, just lowered with a Wahl 121in. suspension. Now in M.I.R.A., he Won a final at Drummond Island MI., and ended up Winning the Smi-Pro 500cc class Championship for the year. BUT had to forfit the win because the Phazer wasan't classified to race in Oval Racing, but this year it is.RJH said:PureBlue
