Coming off an Apex for the last 5 seasons this is what I though of my 1st ride on my xtx.
Pros
1. it loves deep snow
2. pulls real hard 40 to 50mph and punch it. Front end gets light on hard pack without studs.
3. ride is super. 144 levels out the rought stuff.
4. almost more comfortable to stand up than sit down.
Cons
1. needs a clutch kit to improve low end.
2. pushes like a barge in the corners while given er.
3. by no means does this thing handle like a 121.
4. needs tall winshield. First time ever I had snow build up on my BVS2. Running in the deep stuff I wore most of the fluff in my face.
All in all i loved the sled but will take some dialing in and getting used to.

Finally someone says it doesn't handle like a 121". I think it's probably better than a straight 144" but never really believed the 121" story. I assume your Apex was a 121"? These things really are more fun to ride standing up. This year I've got a 2" rise with firm foam for the seat so we'll see how that goes.

Welcome to the nytro.
I had 08 shorty then moved to an xtx.
Neather one carved, turned or felt like any sled I had before.
I've been messing around with shock setups, skis, runners ever since.
But it's all good, my learning curve is over.
My xtx is a great trail sled at 50+ mph.

Yea deff doesnt handle like a 121. I would say its like riding a 136 on the trails.

i had the same impression when i first got it, but fixed it by putting C&A skies on and adjusting suspension!

A set of simmons skis really helped the handling issue with my 09. Some say they make the steering heavy though. I only noticed it at slow speeds.

How much gas did you add to top up? I bet you still had close to 8-10L left if its like the RX-1 and Apex. The light comes on usually pretty early giving you notice, but good to go for a while. Regardless, 28L is a bit small for my liking, which is why I now have the trail tank.

There is only 1 gallon left once light comes on, on the Nytro. The Apex has a almost 2.5g.

If its a new sled, it needs to be broke-in. MPG will get better. Trail Tank is still a nice improvement.

Sledfreak have you tested this 1 gallon when the light comes on or is it a guesstamation? ThanksSledFreak said:Dano said:blu blood said:Almost forgot. 65 miles befor the gas light came on????? I was riding like a grandmother and thats all i made it on one tank. Not cool!

Was told this by a person of Interest that worked for Yamaha. From my perspective, it is about right. Light came and I drove another 14miles before I got gas. I took over 7 gallons to fill it.

Riding with an XTX for the last two years and when the light comes on it's not kidding...you will need gas soon. If I can remember right, I think there is about 4-5 litres left...low fuel light usually comes on at about 150km(trail riding)
