Hi guys,

My idle is at 3500 rpm and doesnt drop down or change when warmed up.

I tried searching for possible reasons and couldnt find anyone with same issue.

What can cause the idle to be sooooo high??

The throttle cable has normal free play/slack in it so can be the cable.

What mods/add on's if any?

No Mods. all stock

on cold start up it idles at 3500 rpm and then when it warms up the rpm settles down to 2500 rpm.

Throttle cable seems to have some free play in it up by the throttle lever.

Is there a idle adjustment on the throttle bodies??
or
Anything else that can be messed up causing the high idle?

I messed with the throttle cable at the throttle bodies and at the lever and was not able to make the RPM drop any.

It is a MTX mountain sled....... is there any reason a previous owner would set it up like this intentionally??

My clutch engages immediately also. like at 3000 rpm she starts to go.

Just wondering if people set the sled up so the moment you touch the throttle lever she starts to move forward.

Why did he sell it? No reason to have it idle that high. Check the airbox and vacuum lines and perhaps check throttle body sync.

I dont have any check engine codes showing up on my display.
If that part failed wouldnt it throw a code?

Also where is that ISC located exactly? Did a search on yahoo and no pics of it

No, you need to run diagnostics to check it's operation. High idle usually means it stuck and unfortunately if the ISC is bad the fix is not cheap. Running diagnostics is not hard just find the procedure in the link I provided and follow the steps.

From what I remember it's a complete throttle body change out.

The ISC is the round Solenoid thing with a plug on the throttle bodies correct?

I did the Diagnose thing on it and it does make noise when it cycles 3 times. So it is getting power and doing something at least but how do you know if its actually bad?? If bad it will not make any noise? I cant see inside the actual part to verify if its opening and shutting all the way.

Thanks for help thus far guys.

The wife's sled last year started to idle high while we were out riding last year and it turned out to be at the throttle body cable. I believe the jam nut had backed off or something. Don't remember exactly. I know I fixed the problem there on the trail and it was done with the cable. That cable opens the butterflies so it can affect the idle if it is adjusted incorrectly. Don't rely on the dash to give you a code all the time. Her sled was not flashing a code but there was a obvious idle problem. Is the TORS connected or bypassed. There is a lot of info in the FAQ section that might help you track down the issue.
