Nytro RTX or XTX

Imho scratchers are cheap insurance..... $70 maybe? I'm planning on getting a set for this year to complement my excell wheels when the trail is rock hard.

Congratulations Koke1 on your XTX purchase. I agree with guys saying go 1.75 inch track. Hands down the best track for the Nytro. I only get 150kmh out of my XTX with a 1.75(stock exhaust). As for performance mods I would say the full Hindle set up with air box lid and PC5 is the way to go. Just put Dupont slides on and don't worry about scratches. If you are riding in conditions that the Dupont's won't hold up neither will the scratchers.

Definitely look into an Excell wheel kit (or the scratchers if you like) right away. I say this from experience. Last year I was in the same boat saying to myself and I quote "I ride good trails and backcountry, my slides should be fine, I'll just ride it and wait till summer to see of I have slider wear problems." 4 sets of slides later and I am regretting not taking care of it right away. A lot of people say they wear to a point and stop. Well I may have been over cautious but mine wore to almost the wear line and I would change them. This was usually near 500 miles and would usually seem to wear good but get destroyed on a crisp morning ride when the trails were frozen. When I do 500 mile weekend trips I was always worried about my slides wearing out mid trip. I didn't see much of a difference in wear between the 1.25 and 1.75 in the short time I rode the ripsaw. I did 1800 miles last season. I will be getting an Excell wheel kit tomorrow in the mail and won't need to worry anymore.

Regardless of what you decide to do you will absolutely love riding this sled.

Problem solved..called one more dealer and he happened to have a black xtx in a 1.25. Getting it for $2100 under retail too which seems like a hell of a deal. Ill be happier with this one because I would really like to be able to put a few picks in, and I don't want to top end loss of the 1.75. Picking it up Saturday. Looks like im back on the Yamaha ship. Thanks for all of your help! Sleds are so damn expensive now days. Getting input from current Nytro owners gives me a little more confidence in the purchase.

if you can talk to your dealer about trading the 1.25 ripsaw track with a cobra or any other track for that matter, then put picks if you feel there is a need to.. no matter what you do with the ripsaw track they suck.

Bottom line you don't have studs youre screwed on ice no matter how big of a track you have. I've a bout lost it afew times because I didn't have studs not to mention they help with the holeshot. My buddy has a Rush 800 standard 121 with a 1.25 ripsaw and 144 studs and it hooks like mad. either way ill be happy with it. I don't need a 1.75 I live in WI not in Canada or in the Mountains. All my riding is on trail I don't need to be worrying about tearing through slides and losing top end. a 1.25 picked is perfect for the kind of riding I d :)

Believe me, I had the ripsaw track with 144 studs on my nytro and the torque of the nytro no matter how many studs you have its still going to dig till middle earth before it hooks up unless it's ice, then you will spin and tear up your studs and track. Great for top speed yes, 0-90 not nearly as good as any other track out there. I'm not recommending the 1.75 to you, I was suggesting anything better than the ripsaw track, if you can get it. But from the the way that your talking you don't want anymore suggestions so I'm done with this thread, and when you come on here in the middle of winter and ask if there is ways to stop trenching I'll just post an I told you so

Im sure ill survive :)

I had the 1.25 ripsaw track for 5000 km and it is fine on trail sure it isn't great off trail but you trail ride so it will be perfect for you. Enjoy the sled and post pictures of how it hooks up with studs!

Exactly. I live in Wisconsin so 99.9% of my riding is on hard packed groomed trails so "trenching" wouldn't be an issue. 144 in 1.25 with studs should hook well on hard pack. So don't give me crap now for getting the xtx if im only on trail haha. Everyone I talk to says it handles nearly the same through the twisties as the shorty, it rides smother than the shorty, and it smokes the shorty when you line them up. to me its a no brainer :)

You'll be fine running that setup....just don't stud directly down the center or the stud heads will eat your shocks. Maybe do a search or someone can chime in on the matter. Other then that you can always change to something different later on if wanted

Where at in wisco you from?

They have patterns that go down the center belt but are not diretly in the center of the track. This avoids the problems of having studs outside the windows ripping out. I am originally from the river falls area but currently live in the middle of nowhere in the Bruce ladysmith area. I pretty much contacted every dealer in the state trying to find exactly what I wanted haha. Found one a little north of here and another more northeast. They were both at the same price but one had the 1.75 even though the 1.75 retails for more that's not what I want. Im picking up this brand new 13 black xtx for 9500...which seems like a steal after looking around. No other dealer was within a grand of these two places!

And you were right, after looking around id say the hurricane kit is the best bang for the buck. He is claiming with this sled and his kit that it will beat an e tec from the bottom to top. Not sure if I believe that haha.

Yeah just make sure there not over the shock so they would rub it then your good. Not sure they still have that issue or not but I reremember seeing guys having problems wearing through there shocks ha

Yeah the kit really wakes the sled up, kinda wears you out holding on though!
