Hi everyone, I Have been pondering the idea of having my primary machined allowing the belt to ride higher in the sheeve to theoretically achieve a higher mph. Im at approx. 101-102 max in hard pack snow and ive seen 106 on the speedo on straight ice across a lake. My question is does the stock nytro have enough power to get those extra mph even if the sheeve is machined? Has anyone done this and seen good results? Also heard the secondary spider needs to be machined to keep the spring from binding. I just need to get a few more mph. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Talk to Chris at Schmidt Brothers, he machines both primary and secondary for those extra few mph and may have some insights.

Save your money, you wont have enough power to really pull more overdrive.

From Casablanca... Chris at SB did a lot of testing with stock Nytros and his air box kit and mufflers and says the primary machining he offers and clutch kits stay within our hp curve. You are right though when I was at 104 on the optimometer I didn't need another 3mph! It isthe 40-85mph performance that counts.

Yes, it was a straight woods road, groomed at least 24' wide, perfectly smooth, solid from night before when it set up. Crested a hill and I was looking at a perfect 5 mile straight trail, from crest of hill it sloped down so easy to get up to speed, by the time I hit the flat section I was over 100mph and slowly crept up to 104, that was it, wind resistance took over I think, when I sat up a little bit from behind the windshield (taller version) speed dropped to 101/102mph. I suspect with the lower windshield maybe you could get to 105mph or a little more. Seemed like engine had more, a drive ratio issue to go faster which is what SB has confirmed. I think his setup with maybe a new gear too will get you over 110mph. Others share similar stories here... good luck, at that speed things are moving quick!

Thanks for all the info!! Your parts list says you have the sb clutch kit, do you have the overdrive maching also? Im very happy with 0-100 speed of the nytro, my issue is on the straight aways/ lakes I want to be able to slowly pull away from my buddies when we are at top speed! We are all basically neck in neck right now so I want to make some changes before next season and surprise them lolYes, it was a straight woods road, groomed at least 24' wide, perfectly smooth, solid from night before when it set up. Just back from Casablanca... I did not have any machining done by SB, I installed two of his kits on my primary, their kit with smaller rollers and a lighter spring for 2800 rpm engagement plus their "quiet" kit which puts small plastic washers on the clutch arms to keep them from rattling away. SB also offer a secondary clutch kit with a new helix and spring and then they offer machining services which allow the sheeves to close closer together pushing the belt up higher, creating a larger "sprocket" changing your gearing to get you up beyond 105mph potentially getting you above 110mph as some have claimed. Not sure if this is via GPS or the optimometer!

Nice! did the washer kit quiet down the clutch at all? I am leaning towards the clutch kit and secondary machining and seeing where that gets me. I plan to pick away at it this summer before riding season is back!Just back from Casablanca...
