Nytro s/c overheating

Have you tried to burp the sled yet?

Take the radiator cap off and lift the front of the sled to almost vertical - leaving the rear of the sled on the floor. Leave it like that and see if you get any air bubbles coming up through the radiator cap. MIght take awhile for the air to work its way out of the system.

Should clear any air in the system.

If it doesn't work then I would call Ted Jannetty a forum member.

Bleed the water pump by pulling a hose off.I don't know alot about the Nitro cooling system yet but in years working with cooling systems,if the pump has air in it,it won't pump water. The RX1 is like that also.I just pull the small hose off for a second till I get fluid then start it up.works every time

Hey Dave did you get this problem sorted out? Like Dave from Hurricane said pull a hose off and let it bleed.

how do you know its overheating? gauge light coming on?
the
overheat wiring on my apex sc is tied into the gauge so if the oil
in the sc overheats it sets the light off in the gauge. i have plugged the cooler off with snow and overheated the oil on the ride back to the truck. cleaned the snow out to get airflow to the cooler and all was well. just putting the sc on should not affect the cooling. make sure the sc oil cooler is getting plenty of cooling.

(October 2005) Today’s project… I just received my SC fluid over temperature sensor wire harness… It lights up the (idiot light) low-oil/warning light on the factory instrument pod if you over temperature the SC fluid… Out of curiosity/boredom I checked it out… It’s an Elmwood 2455RBV bi-metal thermostat… Searched on-line and found the specs on it… Specs are: Contact closes at 160F (+-2) contact opens at 130F (+-6)… Bench tested it using a heat gun, multi-meter, and my hand-dandy new Raytech MT4 infrared thermometer… The contact closed at 158F (low-oil warning light on) and re-opened at 124F (low-oil warning light off)… The SC manufacturer states max oil temp to be 176F so there is a bit of a safety margin even if you get a light… Also note that if you do get a light the factory gauge pod has an automatic 1-min set/reset timer so if you get a light it won’t check again for 1-min unless power is removed (key turned off) which will reset the timer and you will get an immediate check… To isolate the warning light between engine low-oil and SC fluid over temperature just un-plug the engine oil tank connector… This will remove the oil low-level as a cause for the warning light.

The nytro kit no longer comes with the temp adaptor to tie into the stock system.
