Is there a fix for the oil loss yet if (when) the sled rolls. I ran a hose from the vent tank last year and it helped but it is still a concern.

I made a new vent for my sled from pre formed heater hose and extended it below the bottom of the oil tank. If the sled does spend some time unpside down like it seems to do every time I ride, it will not drain the tank. A small amount of oil will fill the hose but because the hose is so close to the belly pan it does not make much mess in the sled. I have thought of using a vent from racing fuel cells which have a check ball in them to prevent major fuel spills when race cars get upside down but that would involve welding the fitting to the oil tank and because it is oil passing through the fitting, not gasoline I was concerned that the check ball might get stuck and not allow the tank to vent.

I have a long curved hose going to the bottom like you describe. Lost a lot of oil on one occasion when my sled rolled onto the right side, not upside down. We cannot put a check valve in because it has to vent. More concerned about engine damage than a little bit of oil, it loses lot's in the situation I describe. More of a concern with Mountain sleds.

The check in a racing fuel cell is in the vent tube. It consists of a half inch steel ball inside a chamber which only checks when unpide down. If it checked all of the time the fuel pump would not be able to pull fuel from the cell as the rest of it is sealed. it would probably work really well as long as it was clean. If you run the hose across the bottom of the tank towards the left side it should solve the problem. I would say it is ONLY a problem with Mountain sleds and can't think of a reason to ride anything else.

Racinstation is mounting one of my breather box kits on his Nytro over the next few days maybe he can comment on how it works for this application.

Thinking of running a vent horizontally to the left hand side and then down. Anyone tried that?

Keep the ideas coming, I need a fix also.

Just to confirm slymax, that is routing a hose from the MCX add on over flow tank? I'm thinking your right about routing it towards centre of sled then down.

Yep, from the vent elbow coming oot of the top of the MCX tank. The one that loses the oil if (when) you lay it on it's right side.

Anymore ideas??????????????

One guy on Snowest had ran the hose into a plastic catch bottle???? Seems like it might work OK. For now I just ran 2ft of 5/8 hose from the MCX tank vent straight down. All my available space has been getting used up real quick, LOL
