How does the handling and power of the Nytro compare to the 800 REV XP? Are the 09 Nytro's a lot better than the 08's? Any unbiased info would be greatly appreciated.

yes 09s should handle better, but a 800R should be alot faster.

From what I've read on both Dootalk and TY, top end is not going to be much different between the two. Nytros are running GPS 101-105. 800R not much faster 103-110, with a few 1-teens sprinkled in. Really not as big a difference as you might think. I do believe the 800R has the potential for consistently higher speeds, but so far a solution for the lack of top end has not been found

Till about 85-90 there both about the same. After that the 800R walks away. Its been proven to me time and time again. Its not bad for a 600 class sled though

Friend has a XP 800 Adreniline and he added studs and the extra out side runner to the pilot skis.He likes the sled alot and has it going pretty good.
Handling has to go to the XP unless you have a Nytro set up good.Easy to setup the XP to handle as opposed to the FX Nytro which takes awhile to setup so the OWNER likes it.
Power goes to the 800 which it should.151+hp to the FX Nytro at 138-140+.
I rode a 09 XP TNT with the 600 Etec motor on 3-11-08 and that sled is light and does handle well.It was not setup right for me but you could throw it around much better than my Nytro RTX and you will not tire riding the XP all day.
XP sleds do handle well and the 800 motors can go quick on the trails with the right drivers.
Another sled with more horsepower means nothing if you have a sled that handles better.
Example---Several years ago Haikonen won the snowcross open class aboard a stock 440.
The FX Nytro motor is wicked.Don't run top end against bigger sleds.Stick to 1000ft or so.
Talked to 2 guys on the trail one on a FX Nytro RTX and one on a XP.Ski-doo guy loved his.Yamaha guy hated his.
Once the 08 FX Nytro RTX sleds get dialed they are much better than delivered. My Nytro RTX was at least 10 mph faster through the same (bumpy, turns, small hills) trail sections than my Apex GT.It handles much better.
09s supposed to be better yet.
I crunched my 08 RTX as I was nearing much better susp setups. Still waiting for frame.
Don't be afraid of running a 800 xp short distances.
Most XP 800 around here refuse to race a FX Nytro and make up excuses.
Friend and I were trail riding on Tug Hill and we were tired from riding 130 miles already with half that some rough trails and we were on the way back to the truck when 2 XP 800 X package sleds came blowing past us standing up and skimming the mogul tops.
Well I wanted to see what these new XP 800X sleds had for guts and I was ready to blow the rear shock and belt of my Apex GT if thats what it took and the belt already had 2200 mi.Trail had a good chop to it and was uncomfortable after already doing 130 miles tossing a 600+ lb sled around.
The trail we were on was one we traveled that morning and I knew the trail became smoother in the next 2 miles.I took off and caught the second guy and he saw me behind him as we approached a sweeping left turn.He hit the gas and he looked suprised I was behind him as I was already on the gas and he moved to the middle of the trail so I had to stay right and back to be safe.Stayed right with him and could gain anytime but not the place for it.His buddy was already at the next trail intersection and saw us right together for the long straight away so he probably told his buddy all about it.The trail was very, very wide and you could see a long distance and I ride this trail section all the time and did just hours earlier or I would not have done this.
Friend was on a 03 Rev 600 HO sport pkg sled with around 4500 miles on it and he said he was about right there with us.
After the next intersection the trail gets heavy traffic and was real rough.
I pulled to the right side and slowed as I knew my friend would be flying by and he caught the second guy and said the 800 X guy nearly lost it in some rough moguls trying to keep ahead.
When the first guy passed me I could smell some plastic or rubber burning and he was checking his sled after we all pulled up to the next pub/food joint just 3 miles up the trail.
My sled was fine and so was my friends.
We both thought that it was a good showing for us just to be anywhere near these XP 800X guys considering the sleds we had and we were also already a bit beat up from riding all day.
No doubt if I had my Nytro RTX I would have a better story. My FX Nytro RTX is much better than my GT for this kind of riding on this day.
If our 2 sleds can do well running near XP 800x sleds then a FX Nytro RTX set up well can do much better.
XP 800x owners should be embarassed that these 2 sleds could hang with them as well as we did.

You're right about that. I own an xp800 and I found out from experience that they are not fast top end like skidoo had advertised. They have some major driveline issues.
I think the reason why the xp800 handles so well is that the weight is fairly evenly balanced front to back. How is the wieght distribution on the Nytro's?
