'09 XTX won't start. Put a new battery in last week, 'cuz I didn't put my battery tender on it and the stock battery was unable to take a charge. Put the battery in and it started and ran fine. After 5 minutes or so, I shut it down. Yesterday went to start it and it won't start. It cranks, the pump relay is good, I checked it and I also can hear the pump running. I put new plugs in and still it won't start. Cranks fine, but will not fire.
Help! Going on a trip tomorrow.

How do you check? The sticky tells you how to go into diagnostic mode, but didn't see how you check for fault codes.

I meant when it was running after the battery change, i dont think it will show any codes unless it is running already, it just flashes them in the display. Is the oil tank sensor hooked up? just since you were near there i wonder if it came off after?

Checked oil tank wire and already checked all fuses. Just checked spark, good. I cracked the air box, shot carb cleaner in and it ran. Not sure what to think of that. I will dump all gas and try fresh. Funny it ran last week on that same gas. I can hear the pump running and did check relay. Anthing else it could be??
Happy it ran though.

when I removed the fuel line from the tank, shouldn't gas have sprayed all over, it dribbled. Isn't the pump in the tank?

I assumed it remained under pressure even after the pumps stops running. So I expected fuel to spray when I removed the line from the tank. Kinda like most any modern car.

Just to re-cap:
Installed new battery last week. Started right up and ran fine. Went to start yesterday and only cranks. Checked all fuses and relay. Fuses good, relay good, can hear fuel pump running as well. Changed plugs. Did just remove line from tank and fuel sprayed, like I expected, so pump developing pressure. It will run on carb cleaner sprayed into air box. I dumped old gas and added fresh.
What next???
