o3 rx1 clutch

I just bopught a 03 rx1 and I am looking for a clutch kit for a good price that is a just bolt on and go kind of thing.The max rpms I get stock now is about 9600 and everyone is telkling me to get them up to about 10200-1030o.What kit can I buy that bolts right on to get this rpms.Any help would be gfreat.Thanks
 
Just because you either bought a trash "kit" or didn't set it up correctly doesn't mean you should attack all aftermarket clutch modifications. There is quite a bit to be gained over the stock 03 clutching, and just the versatility of aftermarket adjustable weights makes them a good thing to get.

I am not saying that the aftermarket kits are garbage.I know from my experience that what I did with the stock rivots and springs,was no difference to a good quality aftermarket clutch kit.I did compare to the same snowmobile,same day and on the same field--no difference!

You haven't proven anything though. Comparing by their performance two things that are broken doesn't tell you what they would be like if they WEREN'T broken. If you are unable to get the aftermarket kit to perform better than stock, then that probably says that either that particular kit was trash (you have yet to state what it was), that you lack tuning ability, or that you weren't testing the area the kit was designed to help out.

1) You have not stated by what measure you are judging -- top speed, time, hole shot, backshift, etc.
2) You have not stated by what means you are measuring,
3) same-day,same-field does NOT mean same-conditions. Conditions can change enough to DRASTICALLY alter the results in less time than it takes to rip your clutches apart and put them back together.

I did compare against the same machine and the field is about 800' long.There was no difference in hole shot,midrange or up tp 90mph.I am convinced that there is no difference in the clutch kit but before I changed anything,the other snowmobile(800 Rev) would beat me,now we are even.What clutch kit would you recommend?Presently I am using the Heavy Hitter kit.

Heavy hitters are good weights, but IT TAKES MORE THAN JUST THROWING THEM IN.

And I wouldn't call *weights* a "kit". Weights are just weights. Have you tried other helixes with the weights? Have you tried other springs (primary or secondary)? Have you tried tightening or loosening the secondary spring? Have you tried different rollers? If yes to any of these, then exactly what?

How does your tachometer react when you pin the throttle? How much traction are you getting? Have you taken any TIME or RADAR measurements or are you just comparing it to one sled that itself may or may not be performing consistently?

How about this... What kind of sled do you have? What (if any) other modifications have you done to it? What kind of track do you have? Do you have any traction products? How is your suspension set? How is your machine maintained? Any locked bearings? Worn shoes on the secondary? Carborator synchronized properly?

Here's an example:
With the stock setup, you may be spinning the track very little, with an aftermarket kit, it could be putting SO MUCH more power down that it could be REALLY SLIPPING BADLY, and yet they could perform the same -- its like driving a car on ice... give it very little throttle and it will drive. Floor it and it will sit there spinning and you'll look like a fool.



There is a LOT MORE TO IT than just bolting on one thing and hoping for the best. You need to follow the power all the way from the crankshaft into the ground and carefully consider EVERY conversion along the way. If you put more power to the track, then the track needs to be able to put that extra power to the ground.
 
I have a 2003 rx1 that is now 136' with a 1 1/4 track with 220 1 1/2 studs.So traction is not a problem.I am using the 8 tooth extrovert drivers,so this finally keeps the track from skipping.The rpm's are going to 10300 right away and holding but it will go to 80-90 mph and then stops pulling.I know it is geared down a little but I am not looking for top end speed.This was not a problem with the stock clutching.I have the air filter kit from ECP,velocity rings and clutch kit(heavy hitters) but it did not make my machine any faster-and it was compared to the same machine.The carbs were syncronized by a Yamaha dealer and this machine is well maintained.I followed the set-up that was recommended.The biggest problem is that it dont pull from 70+ mph like it should.What do you recommend with this clutch kit?I weigh 200lbs dry and ride fairly aggressive and like to drag race 660?

never had luck with hh,s getting top end. Your gearing/track /studs are killing top end anyway
 
I am not looking for top end but I would like this to pull hard up to a 1000' as it did before I added the air and clutch kits.This is why I do not have faith in the clutch kits.I just think that bang for buck,you will get the most out playing around a little with the stock set-up and dropping a gear or 2. I know with the 8 tooth drivers it will take away top end but that is not what I am looking for. You said that the Heavy Hitter are good but you did not have any luck with them.What kit/set-up do you recommend?
