I bought a 2010 Apex GT and haven't been able to ride much due to a lack of snow.  I'm coming from a '03 viper shorty, but this one seems to burrow the track down more.  I keep reading about how much better the longer track is but hoping I'm not going to regret buyin the shorty.

Is anyone putting a higher lug on the track for better flotation ?  What's the best? Or any other mods?

Thanks guys!

A longer track does make a big difference....much more so than the lug height for deeper powder. Your viper floated better, and is lighter, so the apex will not be the boondocking sled in any form IMO. If an apex is going to go into deeper riding, thing that help in order are 1. longer track 2. wider skiis 3. deeper lug, and when all elso fails, a big fat blower and :nos Dont forget that GT stands for "groomed trail"
