Ohlins Electronic Shock Rebuild ??

Hello All !

So I when I had the suspension out to do the donuts I rerouted the wiring for my rear skid, It worked fine and then quit registering on the dash so I assumed it had a broken wire, I removed the entire shock and harness and noticed the plastic on the harness connecting the shock to the harness was broken, I went ahead and pulled the broken plastic off and re wired a brand new quick connect fitting to it...... I still didnt have any shock input on the dash and while I had the shock out it leaked a bit of oil on my bench.....

I'm assuming the solenoid crapped out on me and need to know what I should do? Is there anyone in the Michigan region that still services these shocks?

I see the thread about someone mating an r motion skid from a 2017 ski dont into an apex so that could be an option but honestly the last owner had this suspension set up primo good..... It wont yank the skis, doesnt push hard through corners and even with the wife on the back of it have never bottomed it out........

Would it be cheaper and even possible to have the shock serviced or should I start looking for a different skid?
 
@cannondale27 may be done excepting shocks for service until spring now so he can ride. If that’s the case I’d send your Ohlins to Carver Performance as the second best option.
 
that is part of why i accumulated full sets of spare shocks for my sleds. when i give them to cannondale, he has 12 months before i start looking for them when i get him to do them.
 
JG231, Shock fails in last electronic position, I have ridden mine that way for many years. all you loose is the fancy ability to adjust on the fly. just my 2 cents.
 
The shock actually reverts to approx. 75% stiff on the electronic adjustment when there are 0 volts being applied to the servo.
 
So it's been a minute but its getting to that time of year again , My shock needs to be serviced, The electronic part of the shock took a dump last year and I see that barn of parts has the solenoids for like 110 usd, But it got me thinking that I honestly dont really want the liability and would like to just have it converted to manual adjustment...

Is it cheaper/still possible to just have it converted? I'm going to have it serviced and add a new heavier spring cause i ride alot of 2 up with it, and it's 18 years old but would really not have to deal with this electronics crap again if at all possible.

This is my first time ever going through the process of having a suspension redone so kind of ignorant to the process of it all

If you're familiar with Barn of Parts, check out Travis's cable delete kit.

EDIT: Although it's meant for the cable on the side of the tunnel, was thinking you could do something similar at the shock like his kit uses.

EDIT 2: Best bet would be to contact @cannondale27 to see what's available. He services the Ohlins on my 08 Apex but for the most part, I have not had much issue with the solenoid or the cable so always opted to leave everything as is when servicing it and the front two.
