Need help diagnosing my rear shock on my 08 Apex 40TH LTX. I have power going down to the shock but nothing when I push the button. Wires look fine on the outside of the shock, can you pull that black cap off the end and check the wires inside, if so how does it come off?
Thanks in advance...

You cannot pull the black cap off as it is an integral part of the solenoid. Once you pop the cap off, the solenoid has to be swapped out.
I would start unplugging and removing the rear shock and the harness that runs through the right side of the tunnel to verify neither of the wires are broken anywhere. the white 2 pin plug for the rear shock is to the left of the reverse mechanism/handle.
It should take no longer than 10-15 minutes to pull the EC shock and wire harness to check this out.

I have done that and I have power to one side of the plug, should I have power at both side of the plug when I press the shock botton?NY AttakGT said:You cannot pull the black cap off as it is an integral part of the solenoid. Once you pop the cap off, the solenoid has to be swapped out.

I would say definitely not going to have power on both sides if the button is pressed. As far as exactly what reading (volts, ohms, etc...), could not tell you either.
But if your shock is plugged in (at shock itself and at connection next to reverse mechanism), that either 1) you have a broken wire that maybe cannot be seen or 2) your shock solenoid needs replacement.
I have attached the document covering solenoid replacement on the Ohlins EC. Solenoid can be had for $65-100, depending where you shop.
here is a link to a post from someone else that had same issue and ended up being a bad solenoid that was replaced.

Technology sure is nice, When it works! In my opinion electronics and off road vehicles (especialy quads) don't realy go together.
Good luck with your problem. I hope you get sledding soon.

or he can try that other guy....."bjowett" hahaha. Just kidding, As race24x says, try getting in touch with bjowett (Brian) and maybe he can hook you up with a new solenoid for a decent price.
