Alright, so i just did my first oil change on my nytro, everything went well. After the 2nd ride i parked it in my garage. Next day i come out to it and notice a couple drops of oil under the belly pan on the floor. At first i thought i may have crushed the filter or broke the seal on it. Pulled the panels and belly pan off and to my surpise the filter was dry. The oil seemed to be coming out of the bottom of the airbox. I noticed oil came from the snake line(inside airbox) that goes to the oil tank. My question is, Is there supposed to me a breather hose on that little nipple on the bottom right side(while sitting on sled) of the airbox?? or is it just a vent? Cause the hose is not on mine if there is supposed to be one. Help appreciated!!!

I don't think there's a hose but I had the same problem leaking oil. Let a little oil out of the oil tank and check it when its hot. I keep the level down a little bit from full hot. Make sure when you check it you don't screw the cap down. Since I have been keeping the level a little lower I haven't had any oil in the airbox.

Thanks!! i think i may of had a bit too much in the tank as i remember it was a dash over the full line so i think it may be spitting the extra into the airbox like. Hopefully thats whats going on!! :P

yah theres oil all over my engine in that area. never worried about it figured it was from rolling the sled.. pretty sure it dumps oil into the air box and thats why it smokes blue after you start it up from being on its lid

yeaa i was just thinkin bout that too, I put it on its side the other day carving in a field, I shut it off when it was on its side but i think it may have sent some oil in the airbox :P

When you changed the filter did you make sure the o ring from the old filter was on it when you took it off? Sometimes they stick to the block and when you put the new filter on you have two o rings that dont seal very well.

Usually it will leak out more oil when its rolled on to the left hand side(clutch side), due to how the tank/hose are mounted in the chasis.
There is a drain hole in the bottom of the air box. Often times the oil will drain out this hole and then get blown back on to the engine, making it appear as if the crankcase halves are leaking. Typically most guys notice more oil on the lower right hand side of the engine, when the source is from the air box.

If you overfill the oil tank on the nytro, even by a little bit.
It will spew the extra oil into the air box.

Alright, Thanks for the help guys!! just picked up my nytro(after being a happy RS rage owner) and was worried something might of been up, My first thought was a cracked block since the oil was all over the lower case. I double checked and made sure the old oil filter rubber seal wasnt still stuck. Im just going to put er all back together and take er for a rip and see if i get any more leaking, i think its good now though. Thanks again!!
