Hey everybody,

I want to change my oil but I don't want to go through all the disassembly with removing the top half of the engine. Those GD throttle bodies make me so pissed trying to get the screws in through the airbox. :o|

I was wondering if anybody has tried to get to the filter through the left side ski well. I think if I just drill out a few rivets I can have decent access. What do you all think?

I would be willing to bet that if you do it with a complete front end removal(does not require airbox removal 2nd time) you will find something else other than the filter either loose rusty or wore out making it well worth the extra time to do it the long way.If you honestly believe nothing is out of order just go 2 seasons on the filter and just change the oil.Doesnt get any easier than just oil. That said if you find a way please let us know.

i changed the filter last year for the first time in 20 000km,yamaha says so,my sled doesnt burn a drop of oil,its rock solid and now has 24000 km,i'll probably will not change it again, just change the oil and dont worry about it,snowmobiles dont run in dust

Mine got a K&N filter/ oil change on it last year when the dealer had it aprt for YES work as the starter crapped out, just going to drain the oil tank and change what's in there for this season.
It ran only 1600 miles last Winter :o|
