I cant seem to find the thread that shows how to change the oil on an apex, I did find it in the faq sticky, but that now shows how to relocate your filter not an oil change. If i changed my filter at the 500 mile oil change do i have to change it at 1936 miles or just the oil itself, im changing the oil cuz its a new year, before you ask why change it at 1900 miles, any help to the oil change link would be great, ty ahead of time for the help

If you don't have an owners manual go to yamaha.com and you can view and owners manual for your sled and print what you are looking for.
apex06 go to the freq asked question link and under oil change it takes you to ullmers web site which shows the relocate kit.

You only have to change your oil filter every 5000 miles after the initial 500 mile break in period. Your fine. I just changed mine after 4600 miles...

I thought the same thing until I talked to my dealer, (who is a motorhead himself), and he told not to bother until at least 3K miles. The filter is only used during low RPMs, most of the time after clutch engagement the filter is bypassed because of flow restriction.
are sleds are in clean environment, unlike buggys ,quads,,cars, trucks .beltdust is the only thing,ok some snow dust to.but i'm not worried about it..

I've always changed the filter on every other oil change after the initial 500 miles. I don't think the oil on a snowmobile gets as dirty as in your car (no dust).

I knew a lady who owned a 1968 Chevy V8 and changed the filter every other oil change. She had 180000 on it 20 years ago. Who knows what now.
That was good mileage for engines made then.
I'll change my oil only during mid season once or twice and a filter every season.

its a good idea to change the filter with every oil change, filters are cheap and it makes you look at things when you tear it apart to change the filter, preventative maintenance is a good thing
