oil consumption

I found once I gave up on synthetic oil and went to normal 5/30 pennzoil, I trippled my mileage before adding a liter (driving hard). Never have liked or seen a benifit to synthetic oils ( lots will disagree)

Thats good to know. Thanks
In the manual it says to use 5w30 API SE, SF, SG or higher. So by higher it means SH, SI, SJ

lol I cant wait for Sx I mean sz lmao.

I found my answer. So I only screwed up on the SI. Was a pretty good guess. Looks like I will try the conventional oil and see what happens. It will definatly be cheaper to burn than the $15 a bottle symthetic amsoil. So just to be sure, the standard (non synthetic) 5w20 motor oil that would go into your car will work. As long as the API standard is correct according to the chart provided?

I've gone just over 1000km's this season so far and as far as I can tell I haven't used a drop. Amsoil 0w-40.

Maybe the previous owner did some work on it. not sure.

Keep us posted on the results that you find out by switching to dino oil.

Will do but I will most likely finish whats left of the season with the oil I have and do all this when I change oil before I put the sled away.

there was a bulletin for the RX 1 about this problem and to use Ring Free an to shock the system I have done this on these sleds and it works when I worked for Yamaha Dealer you can get ring free in Canada now.
