Had a drop or 2 on the floor. Thought it was the chain case, but realized it was the motor oil reservoir drain plug O-ring. Has anyone replaced this with a crush washer like Yamaha uses? I don't like O-rings on that...might have to put a new one on every time

Yes I did. It does work but there is a reces in the tank for an o ring , doesn't give you a full contact So I got nervous and put a new o ring in.

Glad i asked. I'm going to check local automotive store, but if it's not a "skinny" washer (not to be confused with thin), then i'll buy a bunch at AC dealer & change every time. I put an O-ring in for now, but i'll be more comfortable with the OEM O-ring. I've NEVER had a crush ring or copper washer leak. I've had many O-rings fail & this one was failing...

With the copper crush washers they need a fair bit of torque to seal well. Is the oil tank heavy enough to lay into it? I will take a peek at mine when It arrives to see what it looks like. Cant for life of me recall what my Apex oil tank had.

Yamaha uses the copper washers. Even the 'Winder motor has a copper washer. The AC oil tank uses an O-ring. Can't fit a copper washer on the plug 'cuz it won't fit in the hole. It leaked once so i'm not confident in it...

I'm going with a new o ring and proper torque.

Do you know what the torque is?

Exactly what I was getting at...the copper crush take some torque to seal, and on engine bottom that is fine, but on these light ressy cant see laying into them without damage to the canister.I would not lay into that bolt at all!

I thought mine was leaking but after looking closer, it was leftover oil that I had spilled when I changed the oil.
