Got my new to me 07 attak home, and am going to change the oil and filter. I have a filter from my 05 RX-1, but is it the same as the Attak?

The RX-1s had a taller filter... make sure you have the short filter or else it will not fit on the EFI engines. Just my 2 cents

Umm.... partially true.
The new '10 EFI Vector will only accept the short stock size filter.
The Apex/Attak will accept the taller filter. PH6017 is the FRAM number.
Now, it wouldn't surprise me if Yamaha changed the location or access of the '11 Apex's to only accept the stock short filter. As if it wasn't in a F-ed up enough location.

Going by my dealer here, I have never tried the tall RX-1 filter on the Apex myself, always bought what the dealer recommended.
BTW in my turbo RX-1 I have to run the short filter to make room for the turbo oil feed adaptor going inside the oilfilter, takes away 1/2" and the short filter will just barely get in there.
