Earlier this winter I found oil under my sled in my trailer. Pulled off plate and found that I could get another 1/4 turn on filter. This cured the problem at the time. Yesterday I changed the oil and replaced filter and it has a small leak ,drip, again. I know that I did not leave the old gasket stuck to the casting. I want to pull filter back off to inspect cast surfaces. Hiw much oil will I lose? Anyone had this issue before?

Are you using a Yamaha filter? I know when I change my oil I probably put my filter on to tight normally go about a turn after the gasket touches.

You will lose the amount of oil that is in the filter at least. Other than that it's hard to tell, work fast.
Or just go ahead and drain the block, it's not much anyway and a little fresh oil wont hurt.

Yamaha doesn't make their oil, or filters, or anything like that. That won't be your issue. A speck of dirt on the gasket could do it
