It's kind of a booger to change an Apex oil filter the first time, as it's "down in there!" In a nutshell, you need to remove the hood, headlights, air box, battery, and battery tray.

This link is for a battery tray modification, but shows where the oil filter is located, once you get in there.

First time, it's a bear...after that, just a couple of cocktails to get the job done!

I’ll add....Never understood why they put the battery down there. Terrible design

I also have been searching this site on how to change the Chain Oil but haven't bee able to put my finger on it. The first article with the oil change from Mr Sled is awesome I am hoping there is one for the chain oil too and it is just my inability to search. If someone could direct me to one I would appreciate it.

There is a chain case oil drain screw located inside the tunnel, near the drive shaft. It takes a 12mm wrench to loosen. Just remove screw and go eat lunch. Install screw and refill. The rear suspension and track do not need removed to drain the chain case. The picture below is for reference on where to find the drain screw.

When re-filling, I add 8.5 fluid ounces of regular 80/90 gear oil. Synthetic is great as well, but regular 80/90 is what I keep on hand.

This is also a good time to check chain slack. The adjustment screw is located just above dipstick. Loosen jam nut and and thread-in adjustment bolt until it stops, finger snug only! Back the screw out 1/4 turn and tighten jam nut. Finished! ;)!

Awesome thank-you! This site is amazing! Just a question have you ever done it without removing the track? or impossible?

No, you don't need to remove the track or disassemble the chain case to change oil. Just feel around inside the tunnel, directly under the drive shaft, and you'll feel a small hex head bolt. It has a copper sealing washer under the head. That's what you remove, and the chain oil will drain right out. Don't get too carried away reinstalling. Just good and snug.
